Probably the most frustrating bugaboo in the episode for me is that the bad guy is called "Friendly Angel" until Kirk, at THE END OF THE EPISODE, identifies him as the "Gorgon"* , as though that's what his people were called. I always feel like a line of dialog got left out early on.

Assuming the accuracy of chakoteya, Kirk first calls him "the Gorgon", then the other two times drops the word "the". If Kirk assigned it a less charitable nickname, rather than using its given/species name, then he needs to re-read his Greek mythology:

And since we’re talking about Gorgan’s name, it brings up the question as to how Kirk knew it in Act IV. That is, when Kirk instructs Spock to play back the chant on the bridge, he specifically refers to the chant "to summon up the Gorgan." This specific reference to the alien’s name is in both the scripted and aired versions. So then, how did Kirk know what name to use since it had not been spoken in front of him? Well, the script provides a bit of an answer to that question. Here is a portion of some material deleted from the bridge scene in the aired version:

The shimmering figure of Gorgan begins to appear before the boys who do not form a circle, only watch, uncertain, confused.
KIRK (continuing): Come—join us. You—must have a name.
TOMMY (defiantly): He is Gorgan. He is our friend—and he is all powerful.
Now Gorgan reaches full flower.

In the above, notice that Kirk asks for the name of the alien, and Tommy provides it. But also notice that this interchange occurs after Kirk uses the name Gorgan in both the scripted and aired versions. I suspect that this misplaced dialogue was an editing error in the script. It may or may not have been filmed, but if it were, it surely would have been excised because this gaff should have been obvious.

I'm just watching the episode "Whom Gods Destroy" on Pluto TV and...the actress playing the Orion woman is frequently lit by deep green spotlight during some shots (like during part of her dance)

Does anybody know why that is? Like did it have a practical reason such as covering up parts of her body where the green skin paint didn't cover completely or had smudged off? Or was it to make the skin paint appear more vivid green?
Anybody have further info on that?

Of course those deleted lines leaves us with the logical possibility that in TOS that Starfleet (or Kirk) has run across aliens called the Gorgon/Gorgan that have that power set.

It also gives a green highlight to Marta's hair in close-ups. They even put her in the green spotlight when she got blown up. Actually, the entire outside environment on the planet glowed bright green, so, maybe while Marta danced, she moved under skylights during her dance.

From what I understand, the green lighting was to keep it from becoming noticeable when Yvonne Craig's makeup rubbed off on Shatner.

In The Corbomite Maneuver, when Kirk leaves McCoy's physical (starting at around 5:25), he's walking down the corridor in his socks with his boots in his left hand. I had always known he had his tunic over his shoulders, but I never noticed his boots or socks!
