Heroes Vol. 5 Preview

They should have just fazed him out the way they did Micha, but allow him to be around for the occasional guest spot.
They should bring back Micah too. But Heroes also needs a science component, an ongoing attempt to somehow cure or mitigate the powers (or enhance them) and for that, they need a scientist.

The one thing I don't want to see is a serum that gives everyone powers. Already did that on The 4400. Hopefully that plotline is forgotten in the Heroes universe.

Woohoo! Lesbian Claire!
If that don't get ratings I don't know what will.

I have a funny feeling that won't have any impact at all (except to make everyone bitch about how dumb it is).

Calling any aspect Heroes dumb is kind of redundant. Any intelligence the show may have once had is long, long gone. If anything, they need to embrace the stupidity at this point. It will be awful. But perhaps it will be at least fun again, if nothing else. So I say, go ahead. Make it Nip/Tuck with superpowers. It's not like trying to be smart and clever has done them any favors.

When have they tried to be smart and clever? Where they went off the rails is in throwing a lot of stuff at us that they thought would be crowd-pleasing but was just undisciplined and random. Peter has amnesia, Hiro gets a medieval romance, Sylar loses his powers and meets naive Central American siblings and then gets his powers back and thinks he's a Petrelli but he isn't and then he kills his girlfriend and goes to meet his father and then he leaves and becomes a shapeshifter and kills Nathan and gets brainwashed into thinking he is Nathan.

It's really a lot of desperate flailing around by people who don't seem to understand that you build a story from the unique core of characters, and the action should come from that. Peter's core is idealism, for instance. What does amnesia have to do with that!?! Hiro's core is a rather unappetizingly juvenile acting-out of a superhero fantasy. The medieval romance had something to do with that, I suppose, but since I disliked his core persona I didn't care.

Sylar has been all over the place but to the degree he even has a core, it's a pathological need to see himself as "important" and part of an important family. The pussyfooting around with being a Petrelli did tie into that, vaguely. Being brainwashed into being Nathan definitely has a tie. But with all the stuff that had nothing to do with his core, and the vagueness of whether that even is his core, I have no idea whether this is all just accidental and the writers still haven't figured out how to build a story for this guy or for anyone else.

I got the impression Peter was given amnesia to limit his powers, just like he was when his powers were sucked away and when he was limited to one power.

They should consider returning them at some point, but the problem of his power has plagued them for two long (and they've usually responded by making him an idiot. Now he's seriously weakened but can at least make intelligent decisions).

Does anyone even care for Heroes? After the awesome first season we had a horribly gone wrong second season and a woefully bad third one. Heroes could have been this generation's Star Trek.... wait.. Star Trek has become this generation's Trek. Guess it could have been X-Files. Or more. Worst missed opportunity in the history of TV.

Having heard how awful Seasons 3 and 4 of Heroes were and living outside the USA where I can't see recent episodes in English. It took me until now to see Seasons 3 & 4.
I didn't see what was so bad about them? I enjoyed them very much! Still at one point, I was thinking to myself, if I can enjoy a well-written story about hobbits and elves, I can enjoy a well written story that involves a world-wide total Solar Eclipse

Well, the difference is that the Eclipse story was NOT well-written. It was actually quite absurd.

Season 4 hasn't even started yet, you're talking about Volume 4, which is still season 3.;)

I finally stopped watching Heroes 3 episodes before Vol. 4 ended and it seems it's not getting better.

The first season.

So basically they turned it into Nip/Tuck with superpowers and no sex. They obviously want to go the stupid route, and have for a while. So if they want that, then I say go all out. Turn it into a bad soap opera parody of itself. It will be awful, but I'd at least appreciatte the honesty from the writers and none of the half-assed stupidity that they've been doing since season 2.

I stopped caring, but shit, after the trailer I actually want to watch this
Sucker. The volume three trailer looked awesome and the whole volume turned out to be shit.

I'm afraid that I'll leave dead Nathan (no, Sylar morphed into Nathan is not Nathan) and lesbian Claire to the remaining fans. I'm done. I'll be watching Jacob play Lucifer instead, thank you.
