Heroes Virtually Cancelled

if its true that a certain actor got recently pink slipped than I could care less that it got cancelled...

So who did you hear it was? What I heard was that it was
Hiro.
If that's true, I would think it'd be a turn-off point for pretty much anybody who's still watching this once-great show.

Didn't care one bit at all. The previous season was way turn-off for me, it's harder for me to catch up Heroes anyways, it's time to cancelled that show for good, so the writers can move on something big than this.

My question: What were they thinking about the previous season that was big turn-off?! Everything that the writers do with the previous season was bloody stupid, it's not that cool, if you ask me.

I already pretty much don't care, but if it's who I think it is...

Nah, I'll still watch. I'll just be really mad.

Actually, if your guess is accurate, most fans I know will say, "It's about time!" We might even have a party/memorial thread in SFF if that happens.

Sylar will get killed off and be replaced by Spock. They will both be played by Zachary Quinto on the show.

While I still enjoy Heroes, I wouldn't be too upset if it came to an end; especially if they're given a chance to write a wrap up.

I've about reached EFC land here, where there are no seasons but the first. I keep watching hoping they will redeem the show somehow, but my hopes for that happening are almost non-existent now.

Are you kidding? Anyone writing for Heroes should be banned from TV writing for LIFE! :rommie: I never want to see any more of the malarky they pass off as a "storyline." They should go to work digging ditches or as Wal-Mart greeters.

I've been steeling myself to not click on those spoiler tags, but now you've gone and done it. I know that it's
Sylar. Or maybe Hiro. But probably Sylar. Oh damn, but if it's Sylar that will frak up the Peter vs Sylar finale we all want. Please let it be Hiro.

well these have been the most popular suggestions

Peter, Hiro, Sylar, "Nathan", Matt or Noah

I know thats mostly the male cast but I think its "Nathan"
:(

now all the clues from various sources indicate:

its a well respected male actor -fits Pasdar

the actor may have been fired(this is a bit iffy, as it could actually have been about a different show but almost everyone thinks it was about Heroes)- why keep an actor thats playing a dead guy's memories on the payroll?

the death occurs during an epic struggle with another character that takes place in the Petrelli household- bingo

its a character most everyone expects would be the least likely to get killed off. - how do you kill off a character who's technically already dead?

the death supposedly happens mid season(I assume before the December hiatus) -Pasdar said the Nylar subplot will be resolved mid season

it will be a character that even people who dont watch Heroes are familiar with. - ok this is the only one that doesnt really fit Nathan

I know a lot of people think its going to be Sylar, but I really cant see NBC getting rid of their cash cow in the middle of the season...

I guess the clues weren't as obvious as I thought they were. My impression was

that HRG would be leaving. I guess Nathan fits the clues too, at least the "respected male actor" part that I took so clearly to be HRG.

However, the character I think people would cheer about is

Hiro. Babycakes just won't grow up, and I think we'd all rather see him die a hero's death than continue to watch him play comic book.

With so many possibilities up there behind all those buttons, I don't feel spoiled at all, honestly. I've developed this morbid fascination to see what happens next.

You know, after reading all that, I wonder if
Peter is who they're talking about. My perception is that he's much more a "face" for Heroes than Nathan. Hmmm

I remember when the show first aired and was picked up for a second season very quickly. Everyone was talking about how good it was. Too bad the character development never went past the first season. I was really looking forward to watching these characters grow... but grow they did not.

Hiro is a good example, I like him but remember how he met his future self during season one? It was supposed to be like, 5 years later? Well, 5 years later is coming up and he's nothing like his future self on the train.

But I do recall reading something about having the "show mapped out over 5 seasons" and then something else (much more recently) about
being important during the seventh season
so it made me wonder... how are they locked into this?

But yeah. The only other thing NBC has that I want is Conan.

Interesting, you mean that they much hyped Lesbian kiss didn't work to get ratings like they thought it would?

NBC has been chugging along ever since Friends and Frasier ended their runs in the spring of 2004.

This is a lot like the situation NBC was in throughout most of the 1970s and early 1980s. Hell, at the end of the 1983-1984 season, NBC had cancelled every single series that had premiered that the start of that year. The only two survivors were the mid-season replacements, Riptide and Night Court. A season later, The Cosby Show had premiered, which propelled NBC to number one.

Where's Bill now? :)

Yeah, Heroes reminds me of EFC in the most depressing ways. :(

Count me in on the "not too bothered if it goes". Season one was immense. After that, meh. Biggest problem: they stopped killing important characters, and cheating with their so called deaths over and over. It takes the drama out.

The thing is with Airlock Alpha is they publish a lot of news that has a good chance of being right, stories that are even obvious to someone with basic TV knowledge. They also leave lots of trap doors/get outs to deny it. Expect the obligatory "sources say that it may not be doomed, so perhaps it could go either way" story soon.

I hope that Milo turns to roles which involve a lot of him being naked though if it does go under.

I cant see it being Peter either, as with Sylar, killing him off mid-season would just seem weird. I agree Hiro should go, he's pretty much pointless...

The ratings dive did stop around then. That's probably as good as they can hope for. :rommie:

That makes no sense. Every show I can think of has its core cast that we don't expect to get killed off. Peripheral characters might die, but it's easy enough to tell when a character is "immune" in that their death would serve no story purpose, would harm the story, would be too unpopular with the audience, or would require that the show lose a solid actor (especially if the actor has gotten a few Emmys or at least nominations.)

Heroes
could have had five or so untouchable characters and the drama would not have been harmed any more than it is on other shows that run for years with mostly the same cast.
I hope that Milo turns to roles which involve a lot of him being naked though if it does go under.

Yeah you're right. Given his acting "talent," the porn industry would be the best career move for him.

Gawd I'm bitchy today. :p

You can not blame Jay Leno for everything, he had nothing to do with Southland being canceled. It's not like NBC realized that they didn't have room for Southland, they just canceled it because they are cheap.

Local NBC affiliates are blaming Leno (and NBC) for weak lead-in viewership to the local late night news.
