Does one really need to watch the episode in order to know it is going to be in the below average area?

Someone will use that quote against you when they vote against a show you like before it airs.

The point is your vote is meaningless, just as anyone else's would be that didn't watch the show.

Say what you will about HEROES but it is consistent--it probably deserves recognition for the longest stretch of mediocrity I've seen pushing aside Enterprise.

Unfortunately, I'd agree with everything there except for the Enterprise dig.

Unless overseas ratings and DVR recordings are extremely high, this has got to be it. Never thought I'd say it, but it actually should be if this is the best the show can now do.

Star Trek series, anyone? :)

Okay so was it not a below average episode? My point is Heroes has a track record that is more than just an isolated stretch of mediocrity--it has been outstanding and pervasive and by this point it is clear the show is going to not rise above its middling nature and actually surprise us.

Not a dig just an opinion--ENT's season two sealed its fate due to the unrelenting middling fare we were treated to. Season three and four were good but the show lost its audience during its sophomore year.

BTW, did you see the preview for next week showing Hiro on trial by his dead father for misusing his power? Give me a break, my eys almost roled int he back of my head. Looks like an episode only made to bring dead people back like Takei and Adam monroe and to be filler yet again.

Yeah, Firefly sucked, didn't it... As does Dollhouse.

(i.e., great ratings do not necessarily reflect quality of a show)

Anyway.

The only part of the preview for next week that I found even remotely interesting was Sylar getting it on with Claire.

Wow, what a shit episode. They've spent all season building up Samuel, leaving him a bit ambiguous here and there as to his motives. Now, we know it's all for a girl who doesn't want him. Pathetic.

lol so you HAVE changed your opinion of it somewhat? IIRC, you thought it was all crap.

as for Heroes these days, I'm just going with the flow. I guess I'll tune in to see Sylar kiss the cheerleader ;)

Actually I thought it did.
As does Dollhouse.
Dollhouse was not my cup of tea nor were any of Whedon's shows.

Where did I ever say ENT was crap? You must have me confused with another poster. Please post a link because I never said such a thing. I said it had an uneven first season, a mediocre second season, an uneven third season with too much filler but the arc stuff was outstanding and the fourth season was consistently fun. If you have been following the ENT thread you could see I praised the show when it was deserved and criticized it when it needed to be.

When Peter entered the apartment and immediately smashed the cello because of his premonition dream, that summed up the direction of the show perfectly.

What's going on? Did this show get new writers this season or something? Even though they were clearly making it up as they went along last season, the episodes were at least exiciting. This season has been sooo slow.

It was just one contrivance after another.

* We needed a Vision of Doom to drive home what a Bad Man Samuel is, as if forcible abduction wasn't bad enough. And it was conveniently provided by Peter borrowing his Mom's power. Great!
* Hiro is a pathetic stooge throughout the episode until the plot no longer requires him to be an idiot, and then Ando zaps him back to reality. Had this been the least bit intentional on the part of the characters, I could have bought it. But no, let's just throw that in for no reason.
* Parkman wastes screen time.
* We get a few seconds of Sylar being creepy in Peter's dream, which was the only high point of the episode.
* Hiro and his gang pop into Noah's place just in time to break up a potential romantic moment, but also when it's convenient to the plot, since they all need to go find Sammy now.
* And all of a sudden, Peter is convinced Sammy's a Bad Man who Must Be Stopped.

These characters are all completely brain-damaged, except for Noah, who just needs to let out his inner badass more often. Fuck what Claire thinks about it, she's a petulant brat. Bro shoulda put two in Samuel's head when he had the chance.

While I agree that Heroes needs to (a) end after this season or (b) undergo a major creative overhaul, I have to give this one above average, shortcomings aside, for the interplay between Noah and Matt, and general chemistry between the actors. Production values (IMO) remain high, and this episode was enjoyable.

Next week's episode looks interesting. Trial by ghost!

I'll stick with it to the bitter end; my disappointment will not be as great as the majority here, because I continue to like the show, even though it never lived up to the superb season one.

aparently none of you find it a just a little creepy that nathan has some sort of remaining personality in sylar's head and now he (sylar) wants to make it with nathans daughter... sick... your all sick....

Did anyone else think that it wasn't really Claire when Noah came to talk to her at her dorm room? That it was really Sylar who had shape-shifted into her?

What I also found really frustrating is that Noah didn't just shoot Samuel on the street. While I get that he wants to track down the carnival, he wants to do that to get rid of Samuel, right? So just shot him in the head and get the compass from Claire. But this is Heroes we are talking about here.

Poor. That was a struggle to suffer through. I might have to end my insane devotion to this wretched excuse for a show at long last. Reality this harsh is difficult to ignore. :rommie:

WHY is Matt and his family not in hiding? A vicious serial killer - with a perfectly good reason to hate Matt - has declared his intention to murder them all. So Matt just goes home and makes boullebaise. Doesn't even warn the wifey about the danger she and her baby are in. Nice. How about at least changing addresses? Presumably Sylar still remembers where Matt lives.

Peter smashing the cello like a complete lunatic and then being surprised that wasserface was upset - that was briefly fun. But hardly enough to make it worth slogging through an hour that dull.

"The Sylar thing was a terrible idea, we all admit that."
 That's probably the best line the writers have come up with since the first season. Just about nothing has happened for 15 episodes; I guess that's something to be proud of, right? Right? :scream:
