Hello, Furries!

So, beyond being simply interested in the concept, does anyone reading this thread endeavor in some creative aspects, art, writing, etc?

Sincerely,

Bill

Started writing my first lot off MLP/EQG fanfic over winter, driving J. Allen mad with ideas and proof reading lol.

Unfortunately, my artistic abilities are about as good as your average five-year old's. I pay others to do the thing. :p

Yep!

Also, like @Chemahkuu, I write fictions, and while I do draw, I don't draw very well. I'm still learning that aspect of things. I've written songs as well.

From my initial post in this thread, you probably deduced my creative outlet has been illustration. I've been drawing since the latter 1960s, but I didn't get a "handle" upon the human form until I collected and started studying some art instruction books around 1983, maybe 84. And what did I do once I got a basic understanding? I started drawing "cat-girls". Not exactly human, eh? ;-) I worked primarily in graphite or ink upon paper until the early 2000s when I discovered digital rendering tools geared towards the novice. Since then my efforts in "traditional" media have somewhat waned. I really should get back to that as I fear what marginal skills I learned have atrophied, but I just can't motivate myself.

If anyone is any bit curious about my crap, clicking the link of my signature line will send you to a long, LONG dormant (might as well be "dead") web comic I used to draw featuring, what else but, a cat-girl. Production ceased when the person who wrote the strips, an on-line friend from the opposite end of the country (we never met in real life) unexpectedly died. I dunno', that incident could kinda' sapped my enthusiasm. I've rarely "conventionally" drawn since 2002.

Sincerely,

Bill

So Bill, do you go to any furry cons? Apologies if you discussed that in an earlier post that I overlooked.

Legit question as I haven't yet stated anything in this thread.

No, I've never been to any dedicated furry cons. Haven't been to a con of any sort in nearly 10 years, but when I did, they were all Atlanta based conventions. "Dragon*Con" was my "usual" visit off and on from 1992 to 2006. It covered just about anything and everything and like a Borg cube, "assimilated" the smaller cons that had been around for several years. It's now the Deep South's answer to the San Diego Comic Con.

The nearest "furry" cons, at least those I knew existed, were in Tennessee or farther away. Besides, D*Con had (and I guess still has) something for everyone.

Nowadays, large crowds unsettle me (D*Con attracts 60K attendees, oy!) and the lodging is just too expensive. Just about anything that might intrigue me I can find on-line. Collectibles? eBay, Amazon, and on-line shops. Costume "watching"? A myriad different on-line galleries. Art? See previous statement. Fan films? YouTube fills that niche. Yeah, I'm a bit of a hermit now that I'm in my early 50s.

Sincerely,

Bill

Thanks for the detailed reply Bill.

If you wanted to check out a furry con and didn't mind long-distance travel, there's one in October in CT that gets about 1500 people. I consider it to be at the ideal point where there's always stuff to do without feeling like there's -always stuff to do-.

There's a furry convention in Orlando in August as well (Megaplex). Personally, though, I much prefer going to gaming cons, especially as I have yet to find a good gaming group at home.

I have!

Really powerful movie. It wrecked me emotionally, in ways that I'm still processing.

Also, it's super cute. I'd watch whatever TV series of string of endless sequels that Disney felt like producing.

Nope, I'm 31 so kinda weird going to see it with the main crowd. Just waiting patiently for the DVD.

Furry isn't my thing at all, but I find do find some of the more devoted followers hilariously endearing. And I don't mean that in a mean way -- I have interests and kinks that are equally worthy of some good-natured mockery.
Plus, everyone has their sacred cow, and mine is a fox. A really fucking sexy cartoon fox:

Damn, that fox.

Aw, I didn't know about that. :(

Anyway, I'll be waiting for the DVD, but I am looking forward to it. :D
