The interview was with a very prominent doctor of a major political family in Sudan. Her family is very successful and relatively wealthy- I don't remember the name exactly but it started with an S(and is probably the same as Siddig's longer arab name?) and has had a very important place in the politics of the country.

She was discussing the situation in Sudan, how she fought in a war back in the 90s...

and then she mentioned that Siddig is her cousin and that everyone is very proud of him!!

that was very cool to hear, I had no idea that he had such a background. I always find it interesting when relatively prominent actors have ties to places & cultures other than, like, California. But apparently he has family ties to Sudan, and to people who are intimately involved with the situation of the country and its government.

    Just thought it was interesting.

Pity that Uncle Malcolm never got the chance to appear on DS9. He said he would, but only if Sid directed. Don't know why they didn't get to do it, since Sid *has* directed at least one episode. Just didn't have the time, I guess...

For the longest time I used to think it was Uncle Malcolm playing the semi-old angry dude (as opposed to the really old angry dude ) in Business as Usual, which Sid did indeed direct. I didn't even know Sid directed it or was related to Uncle Malcolm for many years while I was thinking this. It's uncanny how similar that guy was to Malcolm in that role. Malcolm would have been a perfect fit in that role as well. The actor they did choose nailed it in his own right, though.

If you are talking about Hagath, he was played by Steven Berkoff who was in A Clockwork Orange...which also featured Malcom Macdowell...
