HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

Not sure I got the pearls host thing correctly to be honest.
Clarification appreciated!

Season 2 Finale:
Dolores pearl inside host Hale smuggled out 5 pearls, one of which was Bernard's.
Stubs (pearl & host, by Ford) let her leave.

Season 3: "Real world"
Dolores PRIME switches from host Hale to a new host Dolores and puts Dolores copies into hosts:

1) Hale = Dolors
2) Yakuza boss = Dolores
3) bearded security of human tech inventor = Dolores
4) Bernard: Dolores too or is he Bernard?
5) who is the 5th host?

6) Stubs: "host himself", just altered by Bernard?
7) Maeve

I imagine that Delores is "Delores Prime" in the sense that she's the least altered copy - with digital copies, no copy is any more or less "true" than the original.

Yeah, we have to wonder if Bernard is Bernard - what was Delores about to do with Liam just before Bernard and Stubbs showed up, and didn't Connel say "Our guys have showed up early" when he saw Bernard approach Liam?

But "Bernard is really Delores" is a little too obvious for this show - even though it's a little more generic and simple this year.

I love how Dolores/Charlotte manipulated William into outing himself as mentally unstable so she could seize his shares of Delos. That said, as much I really enjoyed watching him having conversations with Emily, it does seem like his story has played out at this point. What else there for him to do? He has no allies, he's not in control of his facilities (contrary to his own belief), and he's looked up in a mental institute. Even if he were to break out somehow, what would he do? What are his motivations at this point?

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that the five pearls appear to be all copies of Dolores (presumably not counting Bernard). With all our theorizing over who could be playing who, it feels a bit of a let down (and not because no one guessed it). I suppose it makes some sense that she could only trust herself to get the job done but it's not like she was without allies before.

I'm also a little disappointed how Maeve failed in her initial mission and overpowered by Dolores/Musashi so easily. Of course we'll see her again, rescued and repaired by Serac, but it's still a little disappointing to see how Dolores "all-powerful" and "all-seeing" appears to be. On the plus side, it's great to see Hiroyuki Sanada again and looks to be sticking around for awhile at least.

Makes me wonder if they are all going to stay on the same page, or if we might see some kind of civil war play out later on.
That's about the only way I can see this playing out in an interesting manner. Dolores is very cocky and self-assured at this point about creating copies of herself as a means to maintain her ultimate plan, so it would be intriguing to watch those copies deciding to do their own thing. That's certainly already been suggested a little bit with Dolores/Charlotte and her identity crisis last episode.

I'm a little disappointed they are all just copies of Dolores. Even though noone thought of it, it's not that surprising, and less exciting than everyone's theories.

I guess it is possible that Dolores copied another version of herself into Bernard, then copied Bernard on top of it, with her own personality lying dormant. He has to be one of the five pearls though. The fifth pearl is probably for Cerac himself.

Delores mentioned that she remembered Bernard like she did before. Bernard may not be the original version of him, just a copy with his memories but possibly influenced by Delores.

I just read about the Dolores reveal on the Io9 recap, and I'm kind of surprised no one thought of that.
So does this episode mean William really wasn't back in Westworld in the future in the last scene of Season 2, or was all of the stuff with him in this one separate from that?

Yes, I was a little disappointed that all the hosts (except Bernard and Stubbs) are all Delores. We’ll just have wait and see how this plays out. But why is the Charlotte/Delores consciousness having so much trouble with her body?

It does appear that William’s story has wrapped. But I still wonder about the scene at the end of season 2 where he appeared to be a host and was trapped in that glass room. Delores refused to answer his question last night.

Yeah, I expect Maeve will be back soon. Wonder if her and Bernard will join forces at some point.

Sorry to hear that we’re already halfway through the season.

According to Lisa Joy, the stinger at the end of Season 2 wasn't directly related to the story of Season 3 but was a 'seed planting' for much later storytelling.

Yeah, but that's just what a producer said in one interview. We know from long experience that such things mean nothing.

I doubt we've seen the last of William this season.

Maybe I missed something, but it seems to me it is still unclear if the pearls from the end of Season 2 were copies of Dolores of were for other hosts. It seems entirely possible that she found some way to copy and implant herself into bodies--and that the pearls have yet to come into play.

As of now, we have four "pure" Host consciousnesses out in the real world:
* Dolores (smuggled out of the parks in the body of Charlotte Hale, now resides in a copy of her [Dolores] original body)
* Bernard (smuggled out of the parks by Dolores-as-Charlotte, resides in a copy of his own body built by Dolores)
* Maeve (stolen from the parks by someone on behalf of Serac, now resides in her original body or a copy thereof)
* Stubbs (left the parks, semi-reluctantly, with Bernard, in his original body)

We also have 3 (of 4) "doppelganger" Pearls of Dolores' consciousness currently active:
* One has been placed in the body of Charlotte Hale, replacing Dolores' original consciousness
* One has been placed in the body of Incite "body-man" Martin Connells
* One has been placed in a copy body - presumably built by Dolores - of ShogunWorld Host Musashi

This leaves one "doppelganger" Pearl of Dolores' consciousness unaccounted for.

Is it still noteworthy that every episode going forward is directed by a woman? It's still unusual, in any event.
