HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

I don't know about some of those studies about video games and stuff. I remember some time back actually looking into some to see the specifics. One of them reached a conclusion about violent video games because they had the participants play Tetris and then Doom and found their heart rates and stuff were more affected by playing Doom. Like, no shit, but I don't think violence is the only factor in that. When I finally beat the black car in Ridge Racer I could actually feel my heart beating afterwards.

Obviously one has to take the level of the represented violence into account, how realistic is it? I grew up playing Super Mario and would never squish a Turtel (even if it was going to cost me a life ;)). But mowing down screaming people in a convincingly realistic VR GTA...

Those two statements aren't really the same thing. The latter one should be "but would I want to mow down screaming people just because I play something realistic like GTA..."

(Hint: The answer is probably no. No you would not. Despite having played such video games. Especially if you have no desire to destroy turtles after playing Super Mario.)

Studies and statistics will say exactly what the ideologue quoting the studies and statistics want them to say. In fact, violence in video games, movies, TV shows, and comic books will lead to rape and assault about as often as reading Agatha Christie will lead to murder.

I'm a little surprised Martin pitched it. It essentially would do to Game of Thrones what These are the Voyages... did to Enterprise.

Well, as long as they actually said on the show that it was Westeros World, created specifically to copy Game of Thrones, it might work.

A crossover with the real show would be a bit awkward, though. Westeros isn't even on Earth, is it?

(Unless the Westworld version would imply that Game of Thrones ITSELF was the WW copy the whole time... :guffaw: )

Come to Westros World. You can ride a dragon, kill some dothraki, have sex with khaleesi.

When I'm playing retro arcade games like Asteroids where you can instantly die by not making all of a series of split second decisions exactly correctly, it's a massive adrenaline rush.

Maybe there's a Westworld styled theme park based on Game of Thrones instead of the Wild West. They made a reference to a previous Horror theme.

It would be hilarious if in the last five minutes of the Game of Thrones finale, suddenly the cast from Westworld walks in and starts performing routine maintenance on the characters. Just to see millions of people flip out and rage out the entire internet for the next week. And the episode should be released on April 1st.

Or a more subtle way they could do it is have some segment where characters are walking through the other themes available and one of them is Game of Thrones, with cameos from the actual actors from the show. Like a Kit Harrington cameo: "This host is malfunctioning, it keeps reactivating itself."

George R.R. Martin is willing to let WestWorld use his intellectual property and wants to see a Westeros-themed WestWorld park, but, as of now, there are no plans in place to actually make that happen.

If nothing else, this needs to be a Funny or Die video.

I guess they could also do Star Trek World.

Just watched the 4th episode
So the blond female gunslinger from a previous episode wasn't a guest after all. I think her character name is Armistice.
MiB's quest has something to do with Arnold. And preview of next episode shows MiB talking to Ford, so hopefully we will learn more about what he is after

I'd give all the moneyz if one of the armies of Westeros were doing some mass synchronized training routine and then all of a sudden the cheap plaster walls of the castle broke down and a bunch of brawling robot cowboys from the Westworld set came crashing through to continue the fight, full French Mistake-style.

We're introduced MiB talking to Ford, so hopefully we will learn more about what he is after

We're introduced to Armistice in Episode 1. The female we saw last week with Teddy is a brunette guest named Marti.
