Spoilers Hawkeye -Discussion Thread

Wow, that 3rd episode was perfection. An origin story for Maya in 8 minutes that held a lot of weight. The action, camera work, music all done so well. The Director Bert & Bertie should be given a marvel film. I'm glad to see he is directing the next two episodes also.

I guess you've forgotten the scene at the farmhouse in Age of Ultron where Nat asked about "little Natasha" and Laura admits that he's "little Nathaniel" (to which Nat says "Traitor" to Laura's belly).

Oh, damn, I had forgotten about that (at least I think I knew about that, it does sound familiar). It's a shame she didn't get the role, even if Meng'er Zhang did a terrific job in the role.

That said, that wouldn't have been the first time there's been double casting between the films and the pre-Disney+ shows, most notably Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa in Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD and a cop in The Avengers. I'm pretty sure there are other examples.

I think the biggest example would be Mahershala Ali who played Cottonmouth on Luke Cage and will be headlining the Blade movie down the line.

Another duh. Staring me right in the face.

I guess I should quit while I'm behind.
Damn, I forgot about him too.

Only 3 episodes in and we still have no idea what the general story is ( or i don't and am dense).

"Uncle" has to be introduced ( would be so cool if it really is D'Onofrio's Kingpin, one of the best onscreen Marvel villains ever) and possibly Yelena. I fear 3 episodes may not be enough without it becoming too crowded or hectic. It may not be enough time to fully explore the implications, i just don't want to see Yelena attacking Clint, him explaining what actually happened and her being "Oh ok, didn't know that. My bad!"

Even if it’s them reprising their roles, I imagine their characters will be somewhat different to their Netflix counterparts

It's a classic Christmas story. Dad's trying to get home for Christmas, but things keep getting in the way.
I was secretly hoping Nathaniel would get left behind and end up holding off some unlikely criminals in the family's hotel room with a toy bow and arrow. It is Christmas after all.

This could be all off-screen. The end credits scene would be Laura at the farm screaming "Where's Nathaniel!?!!" into the phone, cutting to Clint bursting into the hotel to find him with two crooks tied up in improvised traps.

At least him almost being left behind was a nice shout out to Home Alone.

True, but it'll still be great to have them back.

Honestly, unless there's some major contradiction, I'll just keep imagining they're the same characters with the same history. Hell, even then I might just squint past it.

I can see them alluding to having a history, though I'll be curious to see how they handle it since, in the Netflix show (hiding it just in case)

Kingpin figured out that Matt Murdock is Daredevil.

Yeah, I'm curious about that, too. I don't need big sweeping references, but a few nods here and there that aren't confusing for non-Netflixverse viewers would be cool.

I wouldn't think it would be difficult for them to use the continuity of the Netflix shows - keep things vague enough to not confuse the non-Netflix viewers but establish that these characters have a history and go where we last saw them. Hopefully easy enough to establish a reason for Fisk not having gone public with Daredevil's identity. Plus a post-Blip world allows them to change up the status quo.
