Have You Ever Been Stood Up?

Once when I was a teenager. Not a good feeling. Then later in life at the ending of a long term relationship, it was one of the games the ex used to play. Glad that one's gone.

I got stood up on a friend thing once, but never a date. I've never stood up a date, either. It's not that hard to just tell someone I won't be able to make it, if I really don't want to go. But people who don't communicate are kind of a pet peeve of mine.

Well, no offense, luv'. But from what you've told us before, its not a big loss.

*sigh* I suppose not....

She loses again...

So let me get this straight. He shows up 3 hours late but doesn't want to wait for you, so he leaves.

Am I correct in assuming that you will continue to date him? If that's the case, you are affirming the myth that pretty girls only date jerks.

I wouldn't call him a jerk, but yes, that's basically how it goes. I thought this one was different, but I always do. As for continuing to see him...I don't know. He wants me to move to Australia with him, but, honestly, I'm having second thoughts.

Ya think? :wtf:

I'd never consider moving to another country with someone unless I fully trusted them. Someone standing you up shows they aren't reliable, they're poor at communication, and evidently don't even respect you enough to tell you, "I'll be really late."

Hmm... things must be very serious if you were giving it first thoughts. I'm sure things are more complicated than what we know, but the only suggestion I have is that you should move if and only if you can earn a living on your own in Australia.

If you move to Australia with him and have to completely depend on him, you will most likely be miserable.

:lol:Good point...

Well, I've known him for....almost a year now. I've been "seeing" him for about six months I guess. I thought it was pretty serious, but these days, I'm just not sure. I agree with what you said about earning a living on my own, I despise the idea of having to depend on him. Plus, if something happens, I'm pretty much stuck...

^ If i may ask, where do you live? I mean its a huge diffrence if you live in New Zealand and move to Australia than, say the US and Australia.

This is exactly why I'm having second thoughts with moving to Britain. If something goes tits up, pardon my language, you're buggered. You should only move when you have contacts of your own there.

Yeah, there are some other countries I'd consider moving to because I'd have good job prospects there. I sure wouldn't want to move to a country where I couldn't make a living apart from my spouse, unless she was making some really serious bank and I could manage not to feel bad about sponging.

GemHaters, do yourself a favor, and lose that guy's phone number and never make any sort of effort to see him again. He's not worth it.

He clearly doesn't respect your time. And for the record: Time is money, money is power, and power is everything.

Also, I don't recall having ever been stood up, if I was, I'm sure I was pissed at the time, but I've since decided that I could care less and it was their loss.

I've never been stood up, I was once the victim of a terrible, terrible public transportation system however. I'm pretty awesome though, so no one could ever dream of standing me up.

I live on the Eastern Coast of the United States.

:techman:

Maybe I'll meet Jeffrey Combs and he'll suddenly realize how in love with me he is and.....:guffaw:..Yeah, that was about to get strange....

^There are worse actors to have crushes on. I'm a straight male and I'm absolutely in love with Patrick Stewart, Jon Stewart, and David Tennant.

You're young, and you don't need to be in a relationship to be happy, but as I said: you could do far worse than Jeffery Combs.

Mmm...Him too!:techman:

Well, yes, 25 is young, but honestly I thought I'd be married by now...:(

No love for Jon Stewart or David Tennant??

I thought I'd be married by 25 too. I'm 35 now and still not married. It's really nothing to really worry about.

Don't settle. Most guys your age have their heads firmly up their asses. And I can say that as I was once a guy at that age. :)

East Coast you say... I don't think you are from the Northern states nor are you from the deep south. I would guess either VA or FL.

Actually, I was born and raised in Tennessee, but don't live there anymore. You are close though...

Ever been picked up with the line "Hey beautiful, are you from Tennessee? Because you are the only ten I see."
