I thought it was a pretty good finale, with some nice heroic speeches and potent acting moments and the like. It was interesting to see a giant battle staged on location, something that doesn't happen often, particularly with so many combatants. The henshin sequence with the determined slow-motion walks toward the camera was great. And I loved how Koh's final confrontation with Heras was, characteristically for him, so gentle and hopeful and humanistic.
Still, in retrospect, Samurai, you have a point. It was an enjoyable series, but it didn't develop the characters as far as it could have, and after a strong start it just kind of settled into a status quo that didn't evolve except to add new toys and gimmicks.
Also, there's a dark aspect to the finale I only just recognized. Last week, Heras destroyed nearly the entire city in one blow, and the giant battle here was waged in the resultant wasteland. Now, I expected that eventually they'd use that Ryusoul they have that restores destroyed things and put the city back together. But they lost the use of all their Ryusouls in defeating Heras. Which means the city is still destroyed and probably millions of people died.
Plus, Pricious showing up inexplicably alive at the end and getting carted off by Wiseru and Kleon was weird. I guess they're saving them for the reunion movies.
