2010.
Actually I really liked that film although it's sad that here we are in 2010 and rather than going to Saturn we're actually retiring the space shuttle
2010.
We all know there's one name that instantly comes to mind in many sci-fi circles for this question.
For me, it has to be the blisteringly awful Alien 3. I have probably spent an entire day of my life arguing that the plot holes in the first minute of this movie are so utterly impossible that it can't happen! It's just pure magic!
Then killing off Hicks, Bishop and Newt? Wow, I'm so glad they just so barely survived so they could die in their sleep. Thanks for that.
The only thing Alien 3 does right is show that Bishop Weyland is alive in the 22nd century, thus making Alien vs Predator impossible... but the downside is you have to accept one or the other as canon. I choose neither, actually. Pretty sure Aliens were a new things in the 22nd century, and not in 2005... ON EARTH... I'm also pretty sure a super advanced COMPLETELY AUTONOMOUS ship like the USS Sulaco wouldn't freak out and go haywire over a small electrical fire... in one section of the ship... Then respond by ejecting the crew.
If I was a film maker, my entire mission in life would be making sequels to bad sequels that insist the previous movies were Dreams. Alien 5, Ripley wakes up and tells Hicks she had the dumbest dream of her life, and Hicks comments that's completely stupid. Alien vs Predator 3, Colonial marines in the 22nd century watch the first two godawful films and laugh at how bad they are, then comment they are just B-Movies made for five dollars and a bus pass.
So what are your personal demons in sequels?

For me, it's Star Trek V. I have no issue jumping right from IV to VI.![]()
Yep, exactly the same here.On the other hand, I can find a lot of redeeming qualities in Terminator 3 (good action setpieces; tough and uncompromising ending) and Spider-Man 3 (thought Emo Peter Parker was one of the best comic relief scenes in recent memory; loved Topher Graas' Eddie Brock). My credibility: gone?![]()
That he was. Mick Lasalle, SF Chronicle:
Actually, Spacey is so good that he's almost a problem. Who are you going to root for, the intelligent, enterprising human being with opera playing on the stereo, or this bulked-up space alien who's scared of a pretty girl? Eventually, Superman regains our allegiance, but the fact that it ever comes into question is a mark of what's missing. Kidder and Reeve always were the most likable people in their "Superman" movies. Here, Routh comes in a distant second to Spacey, and Bosworth isn't in the running.![]()

That's not to say they are great or even good movies, but there are elements I like enough to warrant a watch every now and again.
Highlander 2 by a long shot
The original Highlander was a marvelous fantasy tale full of good action, heartfelt moments, awesome music (Queen's inofficial soundtrack album A kind of magic is one of the best soundtracks ever) and grand themes (my heart always breaks when Connor carries his dead wife up the hill while Queen performs Who wants to live forever).
Then came Highlander 2 and it took a huge shit on everything that was good in the first movie.. seriously. I know actors mostly have little attachment to the characters they play.. they see money and a halfway interesting story and do the job. Whatever drove Connery, Lambert and Ironside to do this shit i'll never understand nor forgive. I saw H2 when i was in my teens and back then i liked every action movie no matter how bad but this was the first i actively disliked.
With other movie sequels like Transformers 2 you know they'll be bad because the original movie wasn't all that so it doesn't bother me that much but Highlander is sacred to me.
Honorable mention goes out to Alien 3.. killing of Newt, Hicks and Bishop offscreen was just lame and rehashing the plot of the first Alien movie was even lamer.
Rett Mikhal said:Excellent work, sir. You should write these for a living, if you don't already.

I liked the Returns review, although I don't quite buy it; I thought Clark of Returns was more relatable and more likeable than ever. But then I'm apparently one of like three people that didn't find Returns to be a complete disaster.
You could probably get through JAWS 2 and 3-D if you happen to catch one on TV late one night.I tend to think of Jaws and The Exorcist as stand-alone movies. To be fair I haven't seen the sequels (aside from 15 unintentionally hilarious minutes of Jaws: The Revenge) so I can't judge them personally, but I've heard so often that they were stupid I haven't bothered.
True--X-Men 3 did suck. Except for Kelsey Grammar, which was inspired casting.I liked the Returns review, although I don't quite buy it; I thought Clark of Returns was more relatable and more likeable than ever. Make that four. I like Returns and as far as I'm concerned I, II, & Returns make a decent trilogy. The movie needed a bit more action and Lois was miscast (too young and too passive) but otherwise it was good.
Having said that, I'm not a Superman fan. My biggest beef with Returns is that it tempted Singer and Marsden away from the X-franchise.
