Seven years after her mother and five others were murdered on Harper's Island, Abby Mills returns for the wedding of her best friend, but a week of celebration turns to a fight for survival as people start dying.
I'm not watching, but there was some buzz on this board a while back, so here's a reminder that it premieres tonight. If it's a hit here, someone else should make these episode grading threads.
I'm really interested in this show. TV Guide gave it a harsh review, saying the characters were so annoying that you were rooting for their demises, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
I wonder if there's anything to the fact that Christopher Gorham bears a striking resemblance to Anthony Perkins?
B&C video review - also includes a roundup of critical reaction so far.
The aspect/plot of it has been beaten to death over and over agian. Either as a miniseries, low budget movie on the sci-fi channel, a movie, or a reality tv show (Murder in Small town X) I am watching this episode and its not bad but it isn't jumping out at me. I will continue watching so long as it keeps me interested.
I decided I'd give it a look and I liked it enough that I'll stick with it. Of course, as soon as I saw the guy from "Eureka" and that girl from "Flash Gordon", I thought Filmed in Vancouver! -- not that there's anything wrong with that.
Nothing's wrong with filming in Vancouver and pretending it's somewhere else as long as you can't tell it's Vancouver. Blade: The Series and Smallville both tried to pass Vancouver off for Detroit... with BC Place in the background!
I gave it Average - but even tho at that level, I'd usually say sayonara, I think I'll hang in there for a bit. I like Henry, Abby and the old guy from Supernatural who plays Abby's dad. They should have hung onto Uncle Marty a bit longer, tho - he'd have been a good red herring character as the murder suspect.
OTOH, the vast majority of these people are irritating and make me wish for their creatively gruesome demise. Maybe that's the idea - why put a lot of effort into characters who aren't going to be around for long?
This premise is missing something important - from the Agatha Christie source material - that the murder victims are not random but were lured to the island because of their wicked pasts (and there was some question whether they were all guilty). If these people have no actual relationship to the killer other than that they are fresh meat, then what does it matter who dies or in what order?
This is produced by Jon Turtletaub, of Jericho fame, and it shows a lot of similarities - interesting premise dragged down by a too-mundane and mainstream approach.
And you can tell this was written by some guy in LA because Puget Sound is WAY too cold to go swimming in without a wetsuit! I thought that was why Blondie screamed.
Abby. She's messed up and angry because her mother was murdered and she's vengeful against the whole human race, rawr!!! Also, she's the one the audience would least suspect (and totally goes against the Agatha Christie twist
where the male and female leads are the only ones left in the end, yet neither are the killer).
That makes me wonder whether another twist from that story will be used? The real killer is "killed" before we get down to the final two, by being in cahoots with a doctor who declares him dead - so if they keep up the unsurvivable deaths routine, then if anyone isn't horribly mangled, burned, etc, be very suspicious that that one's not really dead.

I enjoyed it very much. I love murder mysteries of all kinds and am obsessed with Agatha Christie books (specifically the Hercule Poirot series). And Then There Were None is pretty much my favorite book of all time.
Of course the show wasn't perfect, it didn't amaze me, so I gave it an above average. I like the plot and premise very much, and most of the characters. I have a feeling the more annoying ones won't be around too much longer.
From this first episode it seems like they are leading us to believe that the blond chick's boyfriend is the killer. He's weird, got some anger issues (dunking her head in the water with that mean look on his face), and she kept saying to him, "oh you always think of everything!" I hope it isn't him because I'd like to see him dead soon, but it is a possibility.
This show is an excellent example of why a planned ending is no panacea - I've made it thru episode two but that's it for me. The characters are far too dull for me to bother watching anymore. Maybe I'll tune in for the final episode if I remember. But this show should never have been made. It has nothing going for it. Is anyone even still watching?
I'm guessing that the killer is storing them somewhere and someone is going to stumble in and find a ton of bodies that's going to freak everyone else out.
I think because then people are going to go crazy and start accusing each other and suspicion will grow and spread, making it easier to kill ultimately.
I'm still watching because I'm curious how long it will take these dolts to figure out something is wrong. For instance, the groom doesn't think it's strange that both Uncle Wassisname and one of his own buddies both vanish on the eve of his wedding? He's the one who's supposed to get cold feet, not his invitees. And some girl committed suicide and his finance was just almost murdered and he found a drug dealer with his head blown off...this is all normal for him, huh?
Hey wait, the sherrif knows there's a killer on the loose now. Why doesn't he evacuate the island, or at least tell some people?
