Hands up, those of us who like Seven

EJA

Fleet Captain
Just thought I'd ask, how many of us on this forum actually think Seven of Nine is a) a good character and b) sexy? It's just that from a number of things I've read recently here, not a lot of people seem to reckon on her all that much, so I've posted a topic where any fans of Seven can stand up and be counted!

No, Seven was not attractive. I don't know how anyone finds that whole blonde hair, blue eyes, small waist thing attractive.

In fact, she was down right uhhhglee!

*waves hand in air*

Seven was a great character! I didn't like the catsuit but the character was complex and interesting enough for me to be able to disregard it.

Hell, I think she's great. I find her much more compelling than most of the other characters on the show and I think Jeri Ryan did a great job of playing her. I don't really fancy her, but I don't fancy most of the TV characters I like.

Seven of Nine was a fascinating and unique character who was perfectly cast. Jeri Ryan did an amazing job with the character--in spite of being dressed like a Borg Barbie. She managed to be aloof and cold, yet oddly vulnerable at the same time--something that isn't easy to pull off on the screen. While the character suffered from the same inconsistency in writing and development that the rest of the cast did, her conflicted nature made her just too easy to write for IMHO, to the detriment of the rest of the ensemble cast. But the clothing and the overuse of the character wasn't her fault. She's probably one of the most fascinating characters in all of Trek.

I agree with Aunt Kate, Seven is a fascinating character and I think that the writers and producers did a great disservice to the character, the only part I don't agree with is that her conflicted nature was so easy to write. I think it was easy to write superficially. There could have been so much more to her character and development that we were allowed to see.

I agree. Good character marvelously played but was unnecessarily turned into a "Mary Sue" towards the end of Voyager's run. Both the character and the actress deserved better, imo.

Short summary: Great character, great actor playing her, not particularly attractive in my eyes. I'm confused why so many think she's the height of sexy, personally.

beautiful smart and conflicted - really quite human and very compelling.the devices of the clothing were almost not neccessary to pull viewers in. can't imagine anyone really doesn't like her character of the actress who has done a lot of other good work too.

Aloha! I'm a fan. I thought her addition added some freshness to the formula and gave a bit of the right kind of tension to some of the storylines (both romantic and dramatic). I do think the catsuit was a bit much but as a red-blooded male, I'm not complaining. :p

Nice look but that frakking gun is too much for my inner cheese-hater. It's screaming "LOOK I'M FROM THE FUUUUUTTTTUUUURREEE!! OOOOOHHH!"

Err...ok...I'll shutup now.

Oh, I think now that Seven is great, and Jeri one of the best actors in all of Trek. I just didn't like her for a long time because I was so cross about Kes being dumped, which wasn't her fault really. She's grown on me now I've given her a proper chance.

I hated her being with Chak in Endgame though - and she seemed very out of character in that episode too. I was pleased relaunch trek lit split them up immediately - whilst treating the character with respect.

I like Seven. I thought the battle between her humanity and her Borg upbringing was compelling, and Jeri Ryan is a talented actress. She really sold it.

Yup, I do like Seven as a character. I thought Jeri Ryan portrayed her amazingly, and I grew to...care for her, as much as I did any of the original crew. I found watching her growing relationships and friendships with the rest of the crew to be fascinating, especially her antagonistic->gruding respect->(imo) actual friendship with B'Elanna

This sums up how I feel. But...I feel that perhaps they put a little too much focus on her at times.

Agreed. I missed my "old friends" near the end of the series run. It seemed like no one else got any screen time except as a foil for Seven.

She was a great character. Jeri Ryan did a great job taking the role past "eye candy" and turned 7 into a memorable person.

Of course she was sexy. She isn't my type, but she is obviously a very attractive woman. She just looked so much better in normal clothing or in a Starfleet uniform.

The catsuit always came off as a little ridiculous, as many many people here will tell you.

Awesome character, one of my favorites in all of Trek. I don't think most people hate Seven, they just wish that she wouldn't have taken over the ensemble like she did and wish that Kes could have remained as well. Jeri Ryan did a great job with Seven, in spite of the catsuit. She didn't need the suit to look attractive. She looked great in regular clothing. Even the Starfleet jumpsuit.

I like Seven a lot. I have never found her unexceptionally beautiful, though. She is pretty, that's for sure, but not extremely sexy (from my point of view). Therefore, I have kind of missed the train from the hype around her beauty, so to speak. And this is simply my opinion; die hard Jeri fans need not to take this as a personal insult. As a character Seven was very interesting, but overused. But she was not the only one. Also Doctor, especially on season 7, was way too overused. Overall, Jeri did a good job with Seven. :)

I would have loved to see more Seven/B'Elanna on screen. How these two are written in String Theory Book 1 is one of the reasons why I like the book so much. Great stuff and it would have worked great on screen as well.
