Hands up, those of us who like Seven

I also like the character, and Jeri Ryan played her perfectly. Although as for sexiness, well yeah she was good looking but I'm a B' Elanna man myself. :D

Awesome character, one of my favorites in all of Trek. I don't think most people hate Seven, they just wish that she wouldn't have taken over the ensemble like she did and wish that Kes could have remained as well.
Agreed. I wasn't so much frustrated with her "taking over" as I was with the lazy writing that led to the "Borg nanoprobes can do anything!!!" thing that became a Voyager trope, and that what could have been a goldmine of great material - a Seven / Kes friendship - didn't happen.

Leaving those annoyances aside, Seven is a fantastic character who, thankfully, was portrayed by a terrific actress. The mind boggles at how awful a character Seven could have been if played by a lesser performer than Ryan.

That is a very good summation in my opinion. The character of Seven was not at fault but some badly executed writing and lazy story telling. Seven by all means was meant to be a ratings puller but the over use and way too obvious attempts to make her sexy, when the actress in question hardly needed such attempts, turned some off the character.

As others have said, if more air time had been shared out giving Seven more interaction with the other characters, instead of being the one to rubbish their ideas [if they got to give any] and present the correct one, then we'd have had far better stories and results.

The concept of returning a Borg to humanity and explore that humanity was an interesting one and Jeri Ryan did a lot to make that so very well realised adding the many facets people have commented about - her vulnerability for example.

Definitely a) and b). :)

Seven was an awesome character - she made Voyager a lot more exciting. Her character was also very unique. Some of the episodes that were (completely or at least partially) centred on Seven stood out from the rest in my opinion; she had moments that were even hilarious!

Oh, and yeah, she was pretty hot. ;)

I would have loved to see more Seven/B'Elanna on screen. How these two are written in String Theory Book 1 is one of the reasons why I like the book so much. Great stuff and it would have worked great on screen as well.

I definitely agree with that Tachyon, I read that recently and it was fantastic, really funny as well as a deeper exploration of their relationship.

In addition, Seven's reaction to B'Elanna's plight in Full Circle, her sympathy from a genuine position of friendship, was one of the things I liked about what for me was an awful novel.

Well i'm female so didnt find her sexy. I dont think she was particularly good looking facially but she did have a good figure. I just liked the character and what she brought to the show, she could have worn a bin bag and I would have liked her just the same;)

Gosh, I see that I never have contributed to this thread. Odd...darn ol' real life, I'm afraid...

Anyway, I liked Seven a lot. I did...well, I didn't get tired of her character, but I did get tired of some of the things the writers did with her character, because some of it came to be a bit repetitive. But the character was great, and Jeri Ryan was great in portraying her.

I like Seven. I thought the battle between her humanity and her Borg upbringing was compelling, and Jeri Ryan is a talented actress. She really sold it.

This sums up how I feel. But...I feel that perhaps they put a little too much focus on her at times.
I agree but I don't.
If the other characters had been written as compelling as Seven or the EMH was stories may have been divided more evenly. They had 3 years before Seven to make Chakotay, Tuvok, Kim, Paris & Neelix more dramatic and missed every oppertunity. They were given their chances to appeal to the audience and didn't. Why be Borg and seek prefection, if you don't stand out in a crowd. Why be near perfect if you can't do nearly everything?

*waving hand in the air*

Like a previous poster said, she was complex and interesting...and being sexy doesn't hurt.

Similar sentiments about the catsuit from everyone else... it didn't do her justice. I started liking her in the last couple seasons as she was stepping closer and closer to humanity, but this would always get impeded by some borg fail-safe device and it'd be back to drone-insecurities... so I guess, I don't hate her but I don't like her character either. Like Neelix.

I liked the character, but hated the catsuit aspect. Luckily, Ryan was able to rise above that nonsense in her performance.

Seven and The Doctor... both make Voyager a very enjoyable show. I'm not going to get my troll stick out, so I'll leave it at that.

Interesting that Garret Wang almost got the axe and we would have had Kes and Seven at the same time.

Instead of in the air can I put my hands somewhere else? Combine her haughty attitude, supercilious complex, aloofness towards the rest of the crew, and what Sevens' appeal is - I've always felt - she's a bad girl! Goes beyond just body, she could pretty easily kill any man who bedded her, or turn on her multi-inch heel and blow him off without a backward glance. Fanboys are attracted to women they can't get, or shouldn't have. Seven is both.
