Halo: Reach

You never know. With the Legendary edition, if MS went crazy and made too many of those you could end up with the hilarious situation of retailers clearing that out for half the price of the main game.

I just found out it includes a commentary for the game... which is something I would have wanted. But not enough to want to pay 100 dollars extra for it.

Commentary? Explain please...in detail. I didn't get Legendary because I didn't see a DVD with commentary (like Halo 3 had) listed in the contents. Is this what you're talking about?

I heard there was an in-game commentary that you could download or something. They apparently explain what happens to Jun and the scientist woman.

Does the commentary play over the game, like when you listen to a movie commentary on DVD? That would be an interesting experience.

Nope, it's not ingame commentary (although that would be pretty cool indeed).

Basically, it's a 2 hours long, streamed HD video of a complete playthrough including all the cutscenes (minus some less interesting portions of the gameplay) with commentary by Martin "Marty" O'Donnell (the man, the legend, THE Halo composer himself), Steve Scott (FX Lead), Lee Wilson (Story & Cinematic Lead) and - of course - Marcus Lehto (Creative Director).

They're sitting in Bungie's own movie theater, commenting on the video and generally having a good time.

The video can be accessed via Halo Waypoint on Xbox Live if you own the Legendary Edition. (You also need an active XBL Gold account to access the Halo Waypoint application.)

If you have the Legendary Edition and haven't watched it yet for some reason, go watch it RIGHT NOW. It's very informative, not to mention entertaining :techman:

For example, they mentioned that you can stay outside the Sabre starting complex (on Long Night of Solace, after fighting your way along the beach) and basically keep fighting forever - Spirit transports will keep dropping wave after wave of Covies - also, you basically have infinite ammunition because a Pelican keeps dropping UNSC troopers to back you up.
Plus, you have superior position (Covenant forces have to fight uphill) and plenty of cover.

It's pretty easy even on Legendary to ramp up loads and loads of kills for Commendation bonus credits.

That would be one example for the singleplayer credit grinding spots I guess.
People are grinding [...] various parts in the single player game.

Guh, they made it a streaming video? I might understand why they'd toss the video online to save making a DVD, but you can't even download it?

Well, it certainly also has to do with 343 Industries promoting Halo Waypoint as the be-all and end-all Halo resource hub - of course 343 Studios also are a part of Microsoft, so promoting XBL Gold-only content (such as Waypoint) ties in nicely with their overall marketing goals.

Bah, I hope they make that available someday to people who aren't crazy enough to drop $140 on a video game. That'd be fun to watch.

I am so immensely proud to say I did this earlier :p
