HALO Anime. It's official (Trailer released)

It was announced at Comic-Con. The anime is going to be called Halo Legends and this will be done like the Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight movies. Looks cool!

The Trailer

latimes article

I don't play video games, but the Halo series seems to be kind of an action version derived from a lot of literary SF space operas.

It seems like a lot of people who watched it arm being overly critical because it's only a trailer that announces that the project exists, and who produces it. It doesn't look like a trailer meant for mass consumption.

RAMA

Okay mods hoping you haven't seen this thread yet, if not why does this not earn warnings?

As for this project, it's their Animatrix. People choose to ignore parts of franchises all the time. If you don't like this, don't watch it.

Yeah I keep forgetting that unless you want to cum uncontrollably all over the place about a TV show or a book or a movie because it's just so awesome, you're not allowed to talk about it. Heh, silly me.

Anyway, the Animatrix was pretty shitty as well so that does nothing to change the fact that anime is over hyped cheap looking crap that seemingly attracts only the most broken and pathetic individuals or retarded children to it's fandom. It is a damn shame that decent animation is so often passed over for it.

Oh right, that's the style.

P.S. please don't spam the thread up with catgirls and Gundams, jsut so we're cool

Woah, what's with the hatred for anime? You're think Star Trek fans would be a little more open minded.

Anyway, I've never been a big Halo fan, so this doesn't interest me too much. I'll check it out if it gets some good reviews, otherwise I'll pass.

Not so open minded that our brains fall out.

Careful or I'll launch my chinpokomon at you.

You're free to hold your own opinions about anime and express them, but you've crossed the line here.

Infraction for trolling

It's only a first look teaser. The bigger previews will be released on XBOX live before this movie is released on dvd next year.

I'm kind of annoyed this turned into an anime bashing topic...

One of the odd things about Halo is that the tie-in novels are (from what I've read so far) actually really good. In some ways one might even say they're better than the games.

Oh yeah. The universe that the book series constructs (at least the ones by Eric Nylund could stand on its own as entertaining well-written scifi even if the games themselves never existed.

Oh, and I like anime.

Couldn't get into the Halo series personally. Tried playing it a while back but got bored. Not being a fan of FPS gams, I should have known better.

I'm moderately interested in this. I like the game (my wife and I picked up Halo 3 at a local store's special midnight sale and we played it until early morning), I've read a few of the novels, I've read the graphic novel and the first comic miniseries, and I think the Halo universe is one worth exploring in different ways.

As for hating anime... that's almost like saying you hate books. Or TV. Or music. There are different styles within anime, and a lot of different subject matter. I couldn't care less about stuff like Dragon Ball Z, personally, but I'd hate to live in a world without Cowboy Bebop.

This looks like crap. But it's still early.

Still, what do I know, I thought Gotham Knights and the Animatrix were boring pieces of shit (I'm a fan of the Nolan Batman and Matrix films)

Those of you that don't like The Animatrix as whole, did you at least like The Second Renaissance 1 and/or 2?

I like The Animatrix and I thought that was the best of the bunch. Of particular note, I also thought Beyond, the story with the girl and her cat, was great.

I didn't care for the Animatrix as a whole but I did like the machine war episodes.

I loved the Animatrix. I actually thought most of the animated shorts were better than both Matrix sequels.:techman:

It's not the most ZOMG trailer I've ever seen, but it does have some nice animation in it and there are definitely hints of some cool action and design. I'll definitely check this out once it's out.

Here are descriptions of all the animated shorts.

Prototype: A Marine has been sent to a distant planet to destroy a prototype powered armor, but when he arrives, he finds the planet is still inhabited by humans who are under siege by the Covenant. The Package: A CGI-film taking place during a SPARTAN-II raid on a Covenant CCS-class Battlecruiser using the Booster Frames.

Duel: Taking place during the time of the Sangheili-San 'Shyuum alliance, forming the Covenant Empire.

Homecoming: Focused on the tragedies involving the SPARTAN-II recruitment in 2517, and the Spartans coming to terms with their origins.

Origins: An expansive history of the 100,000 year long Halo universe. It is comprised of two parts.

Babysitter: A story about the rivalry between the SPARTAN-II Commandos and the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.

Odd One Out: A non-canon and satirical interpretation of the Halo universe featuring SPARTAN-1337.
