Guinan on DS9?

Ragitsu

Good afternoon.

Do you think the character of Guinan (from TNG) would have worked (perhaps even "excelled") in an episode of DS9?

Maybe as a restauranteur this time? For more intimate conversations, formal dinners, and family events? Eh, a little redundant on television, but maybe in a novel.

Unless she was trying her hand at something else? Counseling, maybe? Her unorthodox alien variety of it on this unorthodox alien station. Her own offices off the Promenade. Could have worked.

Or maybe leader of am El-Aurian mission to Bajor. They were helped by the Federation 78 years earlier, here is an opportunity to listen and help the Bajorans today, in ways their long-lived people can. Might have caused some drama with the traditionalist Bajorans not wanting alien assistance, whether from godless Starfleet or strange El-Aurians.

Opportunity to get more Q at some point. A conversation between him, Guinan, and a Prophet. Or Pah-wraith.

Pretty sure all the shows that tried her proved Guinan frankly works everywhere as a character. Doesn't matter if it's 1850s, 2024, or if she'd gotten stuck in the wormhole listening to Prophets for centuries.

I don't know how the actors' chemistry would have been, but she'd likely have made a great foil to Quark, saying things like "I'd put ears like that to better use than you ever will." while opening up a competing bar across the Promenade.

Only thing that might have not worked is Odo wouldn't have let her keep a shotgun or rifle behind the bar.

I’m not sure if I’m imagining this, but I think they originally wanted Guinan for the episode where they introduced Susan Sarandon’s son—and the plan was for him to be Guinan’s son. But Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t available, so the connection was dropped. We were close at least!

Susan Sarandon's son?! Chris Sarandon is her ex-husband!
