Guilty Pleasures

I won't pretend to other people that I don't watch Survivor, but I also won't be recommending it to them the same way I would recommend Game of Thrones or listing it on any list of favorite TV shows of all time. Sometimes you're more in the mood for candy than real food.

I also tend to reject the Guilty Pleasure label; however, I was once (long ago) entertained by a certain Michael Caine flick that can probably only be defended as an unusually well-acted and well-produced work of softcore pornography. (I imagine Guy knows the one. :p)

Dressed to Kill? Half Moon Street? Blame it on Rio?

I've seen "The Day After Tomorrow" more than a few times. I love the cast, the tone, the setting, the music... I won't lie, I love that silly piece of shit.

You're not alone. I like that movie too.

And I refuse to feel guilty about it.;):bolian:

I like to think of myself as more intellectual than the average person. I enjoy a wide range of music and books, TV and film and beers and wines. I also am intelligent enough that I don't give two shits about what people think about what I listen to or watch, no matter how frowned upon or devoid of intelligence or overall artistry. Here are some examples of things I enjoy:

Poker Face by Lady Gaga
The Day After Tomorrow by Roland Emmerich
Dark Horse by Katy Perry
Children's Hospital
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Squidbillies
NTSF: SD: SUV::
Family Guy
Black Dynamite

So, one night I may be in the mood to watch a movie like Lincoln, the next night I may want to watch Batman & Robin. One moment, I may want to listen to Fur Elise, the next I may want to listen to the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers theme. I'm a 35 year old male, and I'm of the age that I'm going to watch what I want to watch, and if people don't like it, then tough shit.

Also, I loved Star Trek Into Darkness and am really looking forward to Terminator: Genisys :p

For me it's The Following. It's so implausible and so wackywith characters doing stupid things and shocking bloody moments one after the other. Just about every episode ends in some cheesy cliffhanger.

The other one is The CW's Beauty and the Beast reboot. So stupid and cheesy. I can't stop watching it even though I dislike the sidekicks and the dumb little sister. I guess I just like seeing the tiny Kristin Kreuk kicking guys asses who are almost twice her size asses. She looks hot doing it.

My guilty pleasures:

Flight Of The Navigator. I love this but am disappointed it's being remade Ugh!!!!!

Although having said that the original story had so much potential to go down a darker path. I would have loved to have watched David adjusting to a world that had moved on yet he hadn't aged.. That could have been interesting. And there's the alternative timelines where there is a version of David that is on the ship still heading for the planet Phaelon.. There is just so much potential there they could have used.

The Underworld series - I like these movies, silly fun things that they are. Selene is awesome.

Van Helsing is a guilty pleasure movie for me too. As are these

Hollow Man
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
The Thing, all 3 versions
Resident Evil series of movies
Final Destination Movies
Starship Troopers. Love the movie hated the sequels

Count me in I love that silly movie to bits. I also love 2012, Next, and Paycheck

I see it as a bit of both, really. Something that you generally aren't proud of liking, which often tends to be 'Junk Food'. In other words, something that might be fun to you, but you'd rather not everyone know you do watch it.

Oh, I don't care if people know what my tastes in junk food are. I just want to maintain my credibility when it comes to recommending things that are actually good . . .

"No, really. THE AMERICANS is one of the best shows on television. You have to watch it."

"I don't know. That's what you said about CLEOPATRA 2525 . . ."

Good enough reason for me :)

Oh yeah, one of my guilty pleasures is watching Degrassi: TNG. Or I should say, used to. I stopped watching after the original cast was phased out after their 'Hollywood' movie. I thought the writing was fairly good for what it was and surprisingly deep.

Oh yes, I forgot about this one. I've actually seen every episode. The show has dragged on far longer than anyone could have hoped or wanted. However news has just surfaced that the next season will be the last.

Not necessarily. Netflix has "uncanceled" it: http://www.slashfilm.com/netflix-degrassi-new-class/
