Guillermo del Toro booked through 2017

Guillermo del Toro is a busy man, isn't he? Not only is he directing the two Hobbit pictures over the next five years, but now he is contractually signed to direct and develop new adaptations of Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Slaugterhouse-Five.

This would book him through 2017. He is also adapting Dan Simmons' novel Drood along with the three other projects as part of a production deal with Universal Studios. After del Toro finishes The Hobbit, he is projected to make Drood his next directorial attempt.

Where does that leave the Hellboy franchise?

I thought I also read that he was in consideration for the final Harry Potter movie(s)?

Where does that leave the Hellboy franchise?

I read recently that he wants to use universal's classic monsters for the third and final Hellboy film. Maybe he'll push one of those other universal films aside for the next hellboy movie.

I think if he really wanted to do Hellboy III after the Hobbit films, he'd find a way. Something tells me after the Hobbit movies make a gazillion dollars, he'll have enough sway to do whatever films he wants in whatever order he pleases.

Hellboy with classic Universal monsters? I haven't heard that one before.

Sounds like Van Helsing all over again ;)

Slaugterhouse-Five? I had no idea a remake was planned. I can't wait to see who plays Montana Wildhack

I hope he manages to fit Hellboy III into things somehow. I want to see the dangling threads from Hellboy II resolved. Although mostly I just want to see more of Big Red.

Through 2017? Wow. That's good for him and good for us! I'm looking forward to all of his future projects, particularly At the Mountains of Madness.

Holy shit! That's a bloody dream for a director to have that much work damn near booked!

Fucking SWEET! Slaughterhouse Five?! I would love to see his take on God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater or Cat's Cradle as well!

Don't care.

^ From the article linked above:
Langley said the studio is interested and may work with del Toro to add a TV series and online segments to broaden the following before making the series finale.

Huh? :wtf:

Is he talking about the Hellboy franchise? Or did I miss something?

I don't see how it'd work as a TV series. Especially since the straight to DVD animated movies failed to make much of a profit.
