Guest Stars for ST12

msbae

Commodore
I was perusing a few other threads when I noticed an avatar that had Kirk, Spock and the 4th Doctor. That got me thinking that it would be cool to see Tom Baker in the next film. I don't even care if he has a major role (like playing the new villain) or just makes a cameo as an elderly Vulcan.

Any thoughts on who else might make a good (famous) guest star, besides obvious candidates like Bill Shatner or Leonard Nimoy?

Anyone would be fine with me as long as s/he didn't once rag on Trek. Few things burn my ass quicker than someone who once dissed Trek suddenly showing up all smiles and acting like they are part of the Family.

Such as?

I can think of Teri Garr, who has been critical of ST fans and dismissive of her "Assignment: Earth" pilot, but she's not acting any more, IIRC.

Who else?

I would like to see Jack Black as Harry Mudd. :D

Even though he has already been ruled out by TPTB (when the rumor circulated a month or two back).

Vaughn Armstrong.

I know he's not famous, but he's my favorite actor of all time, and his Trek record is unmatched.

The only thing he's never done is 1) TOS, and 2) a Trek film (he has done TNG, DS9, Voyager, ENT, and Trek games). So a TOS film would be perfect. :) (I know the Abramsverse isn't TOS, technically, but work with me here)

I'll second that motion too.

Hugh Laurie...as House, Bertie Wooster or Hugh Laurie...don't care which!

I can just see Dr.'s House and McCoy trying to get each other's goat.:guffaw:

I'd rather see Abraham Benrubi as Harry Mudd. If you really want Jack Black, he'd do better as Cyrano Jones.

I would love to see Kirkwood Smith again, Vaughn Armstrong as well. As far as 'really big names' (A-list type)....meh, i dont know about that.

But whoever they used, i would want it to be well written and just a cameo. I keep going back to Jason Alexander on Voyager. Good god. That was just awful. It was cool him wanting to do a Star Trek character, knowing what a fan he is. But that role was so poorly written and for me, he was just George in space.

If they use a big name, its gotta be b/c he was best suited for the role, not just to be able to put his name in the credits.

That said, if Hugh Laurie did a cameo i could die happy.

or did he just decide to shoot his mouth off?

In most cases when an actor "shoots their mouth off", they've been asked a question by a journalist.

If they answer the question, "Would you like a role in the new Star Trek movie?" and they answer blandly "No", or politely "Maybe", then there's little chance the interviewer will even use the quote.

Actors are encouraged/trained to give colourful responses to interview questions. It's a pretty boring interview if they answer "Yes", "No" and "No comment". Boring interviewees fall out of the media spotlight altogether.

If an actor doesn't like "Star Trek" or science fiction, I see no problem with them saying they don't want to be in that kind of movie.

I would have absolutely no qualms about Runepp from Deep Space Nine making an appearance in the next Trek film. He'd be pretty affordable, too.

Kill Bill!

Tom Hanks would rock the box in Europe.

What role do you imagine Tom Hanks would play? I see him as a (somewhat) shifty Starfleet Admiral, probably from the Intelligence side of things.

Section 31, anyone? Not making too much of a deal out of it, but a wink to the fans.

Just maybe not a lot of leather though... :p

Oh, and Vaughn Armstrong and Jeffrey Combs would be awesome in some sort of supporting rolls.

SPOILERS WANTED!
