guest characters would you like to see in Trek Lit

He did indeed, in Seven Deadly Sins' Gluttony story. Of course, since that was set in 2380, I think, he probably got Caeliar'd not long after. So...happy ending?

Gluttony? That's an odd choice for Locarno. Wouldn't Pride be a better sin for him to represent?

I haven't read the Seven Deadly Sins stories, so maybe Locarno was just a supporting character in someone else's story, and not the central character? Was Gluttony representing the Borg assimilating people and Locarno just a random victim?

^ No, nothing random about it.

Locarno was part of an underground group that deliberately sought out the Borg.

But otherwise you're right, Jonny; Gluttony was representing the Borg, yes, not Locarno. That anthology was a set of seven short stories based on each of the seven sins and each focused on a specific alien (sort of) race. Greed for Ferengi, Pride for Romulans, Envy for Cardassians, Wrath for Klingons, Lust for the Mirror Universe (thus the "sort of"), Gluttony for the Borg, and Sloth for the Pakleds.

Well, that makes much more sense. Thanks for the clarification.

I'm surprised Beverly's Trill lover Odan hasn't been used more, although she's not the same person after the Divided Hearts comic mini.
Saavik doesn't get used nearly enough.
Lwaxana Troi also isn't used enough.

I have been VERY disappointed not to have Lwaxana's reaction to the announcement of Deanna's pregnancy or Natasha's birth. I mean, I really would have expected her to have all but hijacked a ship to get to the Titan to begin doting on her granddaughter before Deanna even gave birth.

That was odd. Not even a scene about subspace com with Lwaxana about being a grandmother if I'm not mistaken.....

I definitely would like to see Saavik return again. And I do think it's odd that Lxwanna wouldn't be excited to be a grandmother. Or have her Visit Will & Deanna and wanting see her granddaughter Natasha.:vulcan:

Greg, you just made this Saavik fan's day!

Of course, the next question is, did you write her as Kirstie Alley or Robin Curtis? Either way, you just sold yourself one ebook. :)

I am surprised more hasn't been done (to my knowledge and my quick scans of Memory Beta) with Kollos and Miranda Jones. If ever there was an intriguing couple (and I don't care what Jones says in the episode, I think there's romance there), it's them.

Ha! That is a great question. I'm really looking forward to this one too but then a Cox book is always something to look forward to.
I recall a couple of novel covers (Pandora something and Vulcan's Heart) that used Curtis's likeness. I don't recall if there are others and I don't recall if they ever used Alley's likeness.
And we are overdue a Lwaxana/Titan novel.

I never realized this until seeing the post. Has Lwaxana ever even met her granddaughter?

I'm mostly a Kirstie Alley partisan, but I confess my imagination kept shifting between Alley and Curtis when I wrote that story, possibly because it takes place between the fifth and sixth movies, so it was closer to the Curtis era.

Don't know if Saavik will be on the cover art or not.

:) Greg I'm so glad you've written a story that includes Saavik. I really liked your last TOS novel Foul deeds will rise. I really like the Tos movie era stories.:techman:

Thanks. If you're interested, I also have a Captain Pike novel coming out next month, with the Saavik ebook coming out in February, and yet another Trek book coming out later in 2016.

I've been doing Trek nonstop lately. :)

Cool! Can you share the premise of the Pike novel, Greg?

This is the blurb from Amazon.

An all-new Star Trek novel from New York Times bestselling author Greg Cox, taking place in the blockbuster Original Series era!

The year is 2255, not long after the events of the Original Series episode “The Cage.” A young Spock is science officer on the U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, when an outbreak of deadly Rigelian fever threatens the crew. Reviewing the Starfleet medical database, Dr. Phillip Boyce comes up with a highly experimental and untested new treatment that might save the crew. Just one problem: it requires a rare mineral substance, ryetalyn, which is not easily obtained…except on a remote alien colony near the Klingon border. But borders are somewhat blurry in this part of galaxy. Pike will need to tread carefully in order to avoid provoking an armed conflict with the Klingons—or starting an all-out war.
