Mishmash of a film. Why Ego had to be downgraded to Kurt Russell's senseless "I must destroy everything for no logical reason" makes no sense and utterly robbed the comic version of its rich history and drive.

It literally adapted his first Thor appearance.

Aliens: Oh, help us Mr God Man! We think this planet is going to eat us!
Thor: But I don't wanna-oh, fine. *Kicks Ego* Yo! What's the deal?
Ego: *Appears as human avatar* Oh yeah, I'm totally gonna send out my antibodies to conquer any planets they find. I'm so glad you rocked up. I need a test subject.

*Thor gets chased and nearly absorbed/eaten/crushed by Antibodies, knocks Ego out by zapping him straight in the brain.*

It's almost as if these people are being paid to study the material and adapt it to film!

Mishmash of a film. Why Ego had to be downgraded to Kurt Russell's senseless "I must destroy everything for no logical reason" makes no sense and utterly robbed the comic version of its rich history and drive. Its a Guardians film, but a complex character was dumbed down just to sell--ultimately--a "you already had a family" plot.

Ayesha creating "Adam" holds no promise if the character will be as mishandled as Ego.

The Guardian films are so far removed from even a basic "same universe" feel of the other Marvel films, that one could simply ignore this series and not miss a beat of the other Marvel movies.

Would you like some cheese with your whine?

Well, nobody said anything about it being a spoiler.
Not in this thread, which has spoilers in the title, but in "another place" on this forum and in real life, where there's much more sensitivity about what constitutes a spoiler extends to absolutely anything that someone would rather have discovered by him/herself. If one were to use that definition, one would have to avoid such fora and, indeed, all human interaction, like the plague. However, the journey is often just as interesting, if not more interesting, than the end states.

Eternally childish and defensive over anything in this monumentally flawed MCU.

There's opinions and there's grand statements. Monumentally flawed?? That's stretching it a bit dude. Each to his own, for sure. But if it was monumentally flawed, it wouldn't be doing this strong for 9 years in a row. Monumentally flawed movie-series or tv series get cancelled or take forever to produce.

I mean, what's in it for you saying things like that? There's countless fans here on the forum, and you're achieving nothing by populist statements like that, except getting a rise out of fans. THAT'S childish.

Just as it is amusing to see how immature you are when someone does not drop to their knees at the altar of Marvel. Grow up, this is not even a near-perfect film series, and the Guardians films do nothing to move that in a different direction.

Makes sense that a guy with 'God' in his name thinks he can tell others what to do.......

I got back from the movie a little while ago, and I really enjoyed, it's a solid A score for me.
My thoughts:
I love how this focused so tightly on the characters, pretty much everyone got a moment to shine, and at least a bit of development. I especially like the stuff we got with Peter and Ego, Gamora and Nebula, and Yondu and Rocket.
Kurt Russle was awesome as Ego. I didn't not expect him to actually end up being the big bad. I was wondering how they were going to handle the whole living planet aspect of the character, and thought they actually did a great job with it. We even saw the face on his surface twice, once outside the window of Yondu's ship while Craglin was up there by himself, and then again at the end of the credits.
Yondu's sacrifice was a great moment, and I loved his funeral at the end.
Mantis was a great new addition to the team.
As expected Baby Groot was hilarious.

When it's your pretentious kind of "attack", then it's just amusing to poke fun at it.

That's enough of that. No need for the interpersonal squabbling

I saw someone who I didn't recognize from the movie, so I'm thinking that must have been him.
