When I saw this photo on the office ST website, I had to post this thread:

FYI: I am not a stickler for these things, I just thought this would be an interesting thing to look at. I'm pretty impressed at what they've done.

Interesting...Pine does sort of stick out as a "leader".

RAMA

Problems with the bridge set aside, they do look the part. They're a damn fine collection of actors. I have a feeling they're going to be extraordinarily successful at pulling this off.

Chekov and Sulu both look wrong to me, but the rest of them look very promising. Urban and Pegg look like they've got McCoy and Scotty nailed.

But we'll have to wait to see what the new trailer shows.

I'm still wondering why Kirk is in all black. Is he going through a Johnny Cash phase?

Chekov looks even younger than usual here. Who would have thought that was possible?

Also, am I the only one who thinks Simon Pegg looks like he's really pissed off?

Well we saw evidence of a fight. Perhaps his tunic was ripped off.

Or maybe he eat a philly cheese sandwich and the cheez whiz squirted. :D
(West Wing anyone?) :D

Fact is, that is the undershirt for all the uniforms. A color tunic (with a mesh pattern it seems from the hi-res shots) goes over it.

His outer tunic was probably torn off.

Damn! Beaten to the punch.

Actually, in a caption below another publicity photo, it said his wearing black was important to the story at that point. Why is anybody's guess. There, an informative edit, and the post is relevant again.

Yelchin's just too skinny and too tall. What, did Chekov shrink and get fat?

Yeah, I'm not seeing Chekov in that picture of Yelchin. I hope it works better in the film itself.

I'm also having some problems seperating John Cho from his Harold character. Not that I can't take him serious, I like the actor, but it looks like Harold took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up at a Star Trek convention. Could be fun actually... :shifty:

The EW article says that his all-black ensemble is a cadet uniform. Though I can't imagine why he'd be in a cadet uniform on the bridge of the Enterprise with everyone else in their usual roles.

I think they might have gotten that wrong and it's really some kind of commando uniform. Either that or Old Spock took Cadet Kirk on a little flash to the future.

The article says "space cadet"; it could just be figurative. Perhaps Kirk is in post-graduate Command School at this point?

Not just any mesh, they're little Star Trek chevrons.
