Wait till you see where Hal wears the ring.Wait, there's gonna be porn-level nudity in a Green Lantern show? Damn, DC's getting bold.

Thats pretty old casting for Hal Jordan (Brolin is 56) , although that works if they want to have him be the grizzled older space cop. But that also means that he's probably been a Green Lantern for 30+ years, which has weird implications for the universe if this is canon to Gunn's stuff.
I would much rather see a Green Lantern show that wasn't something that could be done by Supernatural or a dozen other Earth-based shows.
Unless the Green Lantern is Alan Scott and we're going Golden Age GL.
I might check it out but the premise definitely hurts my interest. If it goes cosmic in Season 2, then I'll definitely be interested.
There are various rumours going around on Twitter that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan.
And what the Lantern itself looks like... not to mention what he has to do to get it started...Wait till you see where Hal wears the ring.
There are various rumours going around on Twitter that Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan. Making this his fourth comic strip role, if he accepts it (Jonah Hex, Cable and, of course Thanos).
It would also mean that both he and his Deadpool 2 costar Ryan Reynolds would both have played Hal, while the current DCU GL, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardener,
.was Headpool in D3
It was an odd decision given the character's long history of being straight.
After that storyline, which I'll admit was probably long forgotten by anyone working at DC (except maybe Mark Waid who was, I think, the main writer of the event), it just feels shitty to throw away their relationship just because they wanted a gay character on the JSA, and originally not even the normal JSA but the New 52 Earth 2 version.
Alan used to be one of my favorite GL's, but at this point I'd put modern Alan Scott at the bottom of the list of Earth GL's.
Yeah, as apparently the one person on Earth who was invested in Alan Scott and his wife Molly, the retcon really bugs me in a way things like Iceman don't. I guess I'm the only one who remembers/liked the Underworld Unleashed comic crossover in the 90s, which had one of the few stories that actively went into Alan's relationship with his wife. Basically the event had the villain Neron make deals with supervillains for their souls, giving them all kinds of weird abilities in exchange. Alan's subplot in the event involved his wife Molly, who had been a villain (well more of a bored thief, she wasn't a killer or anything) in the Golden Age named Harlequin. She hadn't committed any crimes in decades, but she sells her soul to neron when he makes an offer so that she can be young, which she does because she's scared about what will happen with her and Alan because his powers keep her a lot younger then her. Alan basically has to go to hell to get her soul back, even temporarily having to give up his soul for hers.

They easily could have just made someone like Wildcat or Mr. Terrific gay, hell Michael Holt has a dead spouse which matches up with DC turning Alan's dead friend retroactively into a lover so he'd have fit perfectly. Basically I don't care that they added more diversity to the JSA, thats fine, I just hate that they chose Alan when there were a bunch of much better choices.

And they only made the Earth 2 version gay to make up for the fact that making him young would mean Obsidian - who already was gay - didn't exist anymore, and since the Earth 2 JSA were supposed to be the new "permanent" JSA in the New 52, it looked like Obsidian wasn't gonna be around.
I didn't know this either. In fact, without having my old Best of DC digests to look back on right now, I have to say that I don't recall who his love interest was back in the 40s.It's also worth noting that Alan was married to Rose and Thorn before Molly, who was actually Obsidian and Jade's mom.
He's still pretty iconic and the Starheart being unique gives him some extra cache in my opinion.
