What more do you want? Blade is probably the most commercially viable black superhero. John Stewart is cool, yes, but not the most iconic Green Lantern. .
I think that's true of comic book fans, but to a lot of kids who saw the Justice League cartoon, John Stewart IS Green Lantern.
Yep. To my young nephews, John Stewart is the "iconic" Green Lantern. The *true* Green Lantern. Even after my brother has explained to them that Alan and Hal came before, they don't give a shit. John is Green Lantern to them, period.
He's on their back packs, coloring books, DVD's, they have his action figure, etc.
When you can be replaced....no, no, scratch that...when you can be SUCCESSFULLY replaced for a decade....you're not an "icon". Not by any stretch or definition of the word.
Superman and Batman are "iconic".
Hal Jordan is not "iconic". He's the most well known GL to a particular age group just as Alan Scott was the most well known GL to a particular age group. Just as Kyle and John are the most well known GL's to a particular age group of comic collectors and kids. Like it or not, Hal is just a face in a crowd of GL's nowadays.
The 70's are over.
