Green Arrow (CW)

This episode will have Ty Olsson in it, he's one of my favourite actors so I'm quite happy with this.

Who's with me in guessing at some point in the series we'll get the old "you don't really think the boat sinking was an accident do you?"

That probably goes without saying, although I'm not sure how any bad guy could arrange for a storm and waves . . . unless we're venturing into serious super-villain territory.

I'm thinking the storm was just conincidental and that there was some sort of sabotage - well unless the storm sunk the Queen's Gambit before the saboteur could sink it.

Or 3rd theory - the storm was an ideal cover for the sabatouge. Yacht goes down in calm waters and people investgate. Yacth goes down in a big storm a) any evidence of shenningangs is disposed of and b) most people simply take the sinking as an unfortuante accident.

I watched on interview IGN did with Marc Guggenheim and he wouldn't answer when asked if John Barrowman is somebody comic fans would be familiar with, and he did say that Huntress will be appearing in both parts of a two part storyline running through episode 7 and 8 (I think). He said that he thinks that the actress who plays Huntress, Jessica De Gouw, has a future as a big star. For people who are wondering where they're going with Laurel Lance he said episodes 3 and (I think) 5 will give us a pretty clear idea of what direction they'll be taking her.

Well I thought that went quite well for a second episode. We got the sabatoged yacht reveal a lot earlier than I thought we would and the villian turned out to be an after thought really, but I think overall it was a pretty good showing.

So...

A forced confession while been shot arrows by a maniac that killed or injured several people?

Yes, that is going to hold in court (?).

I was just thinking that the Question appearing would really fit in on this show.
If the Huntress is in the show they could play it as a nod to the DCAU and have Huntress and Question as a duo/couple.

Do we know if superpowers exist in this universe? Or is it like the Dark Knight universe where powers don't exist?

It would open this show right up if Black Adam or the Reverse Flash shows up, maybe Sinestro... By accessing the rogues galleries of other heroes from the JLA, it subtlety admits that these criminal's brightly clad super powered Nemeses also exist too, which means that the JLA is on the horizon too in one form or another.

No indication so far, but they seem to be keeping to non-powered villains if that's any indication. Doesn't mean powers couldn't be introduced at a later point.

They may name drop a super powered character long before we see one. "Superman doesn't have to put up with this".

I liked the line in Lois and Clark after the first villain noticed the effect Kryptonite had on him: "What's Superman without Superpowers? BATMAN! BWAHAHAHA!"

I've read several interviews with the producers and they've said that superpowers don't exist in the Arrowverse.

Someone built a Temple of the Five in Starling City...

Actually if a cop had forced the confession it's not admissible but the police getting the confession from a non police third party often is.
People just assume the police can't use that kind of information.

I can live with the non power angle for now, plenty of non powered baddies and good guys could appear. Captain Boomerang would be near the top of my list.

Admissible or not (and I question its admissibility as well since it was given under duress), no defense attorney worth his or her salt wouldn't tear that confession to shreds in court. And big time corporate crime boss Captain Kelly from BSG guy doesn't strike me as the type to hire a bargain basement defense team.

It's all a moot point in these superhero stories, though, where due process and proper legal procedures fly out the window until the moment you want to make a story about them so the bad guy can get off (see: Lex Luthor in Superman Returns for one example).
