Green Arrow (CW)

Well then, perhaps that's my failing. The social crusader Green Arrow that went road tripping across America with Hal Jordan is the incarnation of the character that I'm most familiar with.

I went to see The Muppets thinking it was going to be Green Lantern. Boy, was I surprised.

You likely did yourself an accidental favor.

Showcase Presents The Green Arrow has a run of old Green Arrow stories from Silver Age, when it was him and Speedy being boring. Right at the end, it gets good, with Neal Adams knocking it out of the park on art, and GA starting to gain the social conscience that Denny O'Neil would perfect in Green Latern.

Yeah, it sounds like they might actually be going for at least a little bit of the social crusader aspects of the character. At this point it's actually starting to sound to me like more Nikita than Gossip Girl.

I'm willing to give it a chance. I remember when Smallville was first announced and I thought it was going to be completely stupid. I thought, for sure, it was going to be a Dawson's Creek clone that happens to have Clark Kent in it. A floor mate in college wanted me to watch it with him, and I was surprised that, though it had those then-WB elements, it still embraced the "superhero aspect" of the character.

If Smallville proved anything is that you can pull this superhero stuff off and make it popular and successful.

SMALLVILLE was great with what they had to work with...I am hoping they can capture the charm of the first 3 seasons of SMALLVILLE an some of the coolness of S5-10. :)

That's what I always assumed, so I eschewed it. I take it that's not the case?

He never wears the suit, right?

Not until the final moments of the final episode.

But Green Arrow, Black Canary, Zatanna, Aquaman, Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, Mera, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Star-Girl, and other DC characters all wore their traditional costumes or variants thereoff.

(Which made it kind of odd that Clark resisted wearing wearing a costume for so long, but, oh well, the show was called SMALLVILLE, not SUPERMAN.)

^Yeah, by about season 4 or 5, it pretty much was a Superman show in all but name. IMO at that point they should have just let him fly and wear the suit and move beyond the whole Smallville thing.
