Spoilers Gotham - Season 4

Gotham returns tonight for another season of its trademark grounded realistic take on Batboy. ;)

The subtitle for the first part of the season is A Dark Knight, and it will apparently be a very loose interpretation of The Long Halloween, while the second part will be this show's take on Year One.

I'm really looking forward to this, but I need to get caught up on Season 3 first. I'm really pissed that Netflix didn't add it until today, I'm back on episode 13 and there is no way I'm going to get through the whole rest of the season by tonight.

Not sure how far they can take this without it seeming weird that he doesn't wear the batsuit. That gets into Smallville strangeness.

The Penguin is issuing licenses for crime (complete with a check box for "Organ Donor") and you think it's weird that Bruce isn't wearing the batsuit? :)

I love the crime license thing, perfectly fits into this world. Overall a nice premiere but it starts to feel like more of the same old, everything is always in motion but I don't really see a progression, ok, Baby-Bats but the rest of the characters?

I actually had a visceral WTF NO! reaction to the licenses, but lukewarm-ed to it as the ep unfolded and I realized... IT'S GOTHAM. Don't mind the Kevlar suit progression, but don't buy for a minute that the actor playing Bat... boy can take out more than one grown man.

Must. Not. Over-analyze. Just look at the sharks jumping! Sharknado!

It all kind of works if you accept that Gotham is the grimdark version of the 60s show. It's just as campy but now it's dark and gritty.

Exactly. I think of it as one of the many parallel Batman universes depicted in the Planetary/Batman crossover comic (in which we see the '66 Batman, as well as far darker versions).

I loved the Bruce appearing and re-appearing with Gordon, little things like that.

And Zsasz was really great! I mean he's always great but this time in particular.

I am also especially looking forward to the promised background story of Alfred this season. His line why they couldn't just go to the cinema like normal teenagers already is a classic.

I also was pleased that Jim seems to have found his normal voice again. The gruff really was grating on my nerves. Hope Ed looses his in the block of ice as well. Does anybody know what happens when you freeze an action figure?

i didn't realize that Alexander Siddig was a series regular this season. not that that means anything with this show. He could appear maybe 5 times.

He did the thing! :D

Wow...no one watched yet tonight? I will...in the morning.

I think David will make a GREAT Batman...in 15 years...but THIS season... not sure...

Well... if this is the last season, then y'know what? I give up...why NOT go ahead for the Batman origin... I liked how Lucius Fox is ingratiating himself into he development of Batman....also, do the comics nowadays have Jim Gordon know who Batman is? It seems like it for Gotham.

Oh,and while I love a lot of the actors...Donal Logue does a great job with Harvey...putting on a convincing argument & good contrast to Gordon.
