Spoilers Gotham - Season 4

I'm glad Bruce has snapped out of his funk, the attitude was getting annoying. Still, I wouldn't have minded seeing Alfred have another venture or two in the Narrows. Interesting teaser with the Batman, in this incarnation Bruce seems haunted and hunted by The Batman giving a bit more gravity to the identity. It's like there's a preordained inevitability to it.

Penguin's mime diversion of Jerome was a bit inspired (and a bit insipid). I'm looking forward to getting all the players back in the game.

I'm not real crazy about this incarnation of Poison Ivy though, I liked the previous actress better and her powers are both overpowered and annoying.

Overall, an OK episode but I've liked the last ones better.

I like this version of Poison Ivy, she feels more like the comics version.
Penguin and Jerome in Arkham was pretty good, there little mime session was fun.
Bruce's dream sequence was interesting, and his vision of Batman was cool.

Tonight on Gotham, "Owwwww!"... ah phew that's over... "Holy shit, owwwwwwww!"

"Why did you say that name?" "Mar-, ur Riddler!"

This Ivy's growing on me (no pun intended) and wow Selina really has most of the Catwoman look now. You know Alfred couldn't stay away for too long, how often did he probably dream of Bruce saying that to him?

Ah...this wonderful mess.

I REALLY hated Bruce's downturn -- it just seemed to come out of nowhere. I really would have preferred that Bruce's playboy lifestyle would be an act, maybe even inspired by Selina.

Speaking of Selina, I thought her takedown of Bruce was the more natural way to make Bruce human

Oh, and the Batman vision -- ugh. Again, I wish that Bruce would have been more inspired by things he observed (such as seeing how people might be scared of certain images), and gradually move into the Batman identity rather than it be a vision of the future.

mAN, THEY really wasted Lee's character. SO sad they never made her one of the people who helped develop into a hero.

Poison Ivy -- I think the actress would be great in an actual Batman production, but as the Ivy of the show...yuck. I wish they didn't have to make EVERY villain a murderer.

I'm glad they repaired my two favorite relationships, Bruce and Alfred, and Jim and Harvey. Penguin scheming to bring out The Riddler was a nice little twist.
Ivy's a pretty good villain so far.
I wonder what they'll do with Lee now? Will they have a conflict with her and Sofia over control of The Narrows or will she move on to something else?

I realize this is Gotham we're talking about so this is not the most egregious of transgressions but I'm really tired of bulletproof cars in television shows. They don't even leave scuff marks at this point. And speaking of that how in the hell did Sofia Falcone survive that headshot? I can only imagine they changed their minds and added that dialog last minute at the end. And speaking of *that*, I thought Headhunter/Wendell was dead as well, wasn't he at one point? Not that anyone stays dead on this show for too long...

I find Mr. Freeze a fun character and he hasn't overstayed his welcome so far. Juggling Ivy, Jerome, Penguin, Riddler, Sofia, and even Ra's might have been a bit too much. I liked the focused storyline when they were doing Pyg though I reserve judgment until I see how it all comes together. I suppose Gotham being somewhat of a soap opera is expected to juggle a lot of B and C plots. Kudos for the Ra's bit actually having been set up nicely beforehand and not just dropped in from nowhere.

I'd like to see Bruce continue to stay focused and centered from now on as they develop his storyline. I think his dip off the deep end did a good job of making him more "his own man" now as he seems to be more independent now and not just tagging along with the other players.

I liked this episode a lot of stuff happening, could have been a mess. And boy, did they dial up the good old ultraviolence...

Well lets just say it was a small caliber bullet made cheaply that impacted an abnormally thick frontal skull bone resulting in only minor penetration with the actual shockwave of the impact causing a coma. I guess.

Yeah, Sofia surviving a point blank headshot like that was a bit of a WTF moment, even by Gotham standards.
I was surprised to see Mr. Freeze pop back up, we haven't seen him in a while.
It was nice to see Bruce and Selina together again, David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova have great chemistry IMO.
The bit at the end about Riddler and Penguin never wanting to see that pier again cracked me up.
Were Barbara's headaches introduced in another episode and I forgot? It seemed like they had been an ongoing thing, but I didn't remembering it coming up before.

This week's episode felt like it had a little more meat on its bones than usual, a bit more weight beyond the typical (quite entertaining) grotesque farce. Gordon's solution to the seemingly unsolvable ("Save each other") had resonance above the show's pay grade, as did the slaughter of all the male Shadow Leaguers by the female members. Almost like moments of actual thematic substance were subtly infiltrating all the trademark blood and crazy.

^ And the glimpse into Jerome’s upbringing and Bruce’s guilt about him. I guess it’s true to the comics because how many times did it seem Batman should have finished the deed with Joker and can’t do it. I’m liking what they’ve been doing with Bruce and Selina and their partnership.

Interesting to see Gotham’s take on the League of Shadows after Arrow. I wonder how far they’ll go with that storyline. It’s too bad that Ra’s is as peripheral to it as he’s been just because I like Alexander Siddig’s portrayal as little as we’ve seen it.

With that, Riddler and Penguin, Scarecrow, Hatter and Jerome all out there a lot of players are on the table. Oh and Ivy is on the loose as well. Getting to be a true menagerie.

Pretty brutal open with the guard and the scalpel I believe it was. Tetch is pretty good with the paper mache judging by his makeshift hat. Scarecrow having to use the toilet for his chemistry seemed somewhat realistic and made for a unique image.

Seemed like a missed opportunity to have the Legion of Horribles be the Legion of Deplorables but then again maybe we get too much politics these days as it is.

Cameron Monaghan did a good job playing the dual role of twin brother Jeremiah Velaska. Plot wise it was actually logical that Scarecrow would be the one to help Jerome develop his Joker gas which was pretty nasty as the victims literally crack themselves up.

Riddler and Lee is a pretty crazy development though not necessarily by Gotham standards. His neon question mark was pretty slick and reminded me of the Arkham series video games.

I think Jeremiah may have thought a little too highly of his maze prowess as it didn't seem to stump anyone, lol.

Some on the internet think bodyguard Ecco is possibly some proto-Harley Quinn. I'm not so sure about that but she's pretty kick-ass.

Hmm, since Jerome isn't going to become Joker, I'm wondering if Jeremiah will. While it is a bit of a goofy fake out, at least we'd still get Cameron Monaghan as Joker.
Riddler's game show, and Lee screwing with him was was pretty good.
The introduction of the Joker gas was a nice bit of setting up stuff from the comics.

Hmm, since Jerome isn't going to become Joker, I'm wondering if Jeremiah will.
Where does that come from, is that because the producers said he's not or something? If so and they've changed their minds, they should just eat crow and make it so if this twin thing is just to get around that. Or is there something more to it? I don't remember the particulars anymore.

I think not-Bruce should become the Joker. Though I've forgotten what his current status is. Dead? Missing? Other?
