Spoilers Gotham - Season 2

I'm convinced TrekBBS lives in its own pocket Bizarro universe, where the common opinions expressed here are the polar opposite of everywhere else in reality. It's the only thing that makes sense based upon my personal experiences and most of the other forums I keep track of.

I'm enjoying Gotham. It's obviously its own thing, and they're staying internally consistent for the most part. The acting is fine from most of the regulars, the ideas are interesting if a bit odd sometimes, and I don't particularly like that they have most of the supervillians existing before Batman (as I've stated before), but that's really minor as long as they stay consistent within their own universe. Which, again, is clearly not the same as the comics, movies, or other television series.

Heck, with the Flash showing that there's multiple DC universes, it's downright fine that it's so much different.

Even the completely canonical Flashpoint storyline showed that things could go an unexpected route and still wind up with some of the same characters.

I agree its #$%^&ed up that they pick Matches Malone to be his parents' killer. Please don't tell me ten years from now he's going to go undercover as his parents' murderer all the time :wtf:
Yeah, having the murderer be a future alias of Batman from the comics, even if he was a real guy before that, is a weird choice. I know Gotham likes to do it's own thing, but they seem to at least be sticking to basics ideas from the comics, so it seems weird to go off like this. I don't really see why they couldn't have called him Joe Chill and still done the same story. There's really no reason he had to be Matches Malone.
I'm really glad to hear it's renewed, it's a lot of crazy fun.

Also, was I the only one who thought Matches was NOT the killer and was lying about it? He didn't seem to actually know the details of the scene. I kept flashing back to Minority Report where they paid Crow to pretend to be the guy who took Anderson's kid.

That was my take as well, and I'm really hoping that they still work Joe Chill into it somewhere. I guess I'd be okay if he is up the "chain of command" somewhere. It definitely felt like they left it open... all the "IF I did what you say I did" type of comments....his lazy memory on it.... denying he reads the news (yet I'm sure the necklace bit could have been in a news account somewhere...)

We will see!

Tonight's new episode:
Wrath of the Villains: Mad Grey Dawn
Gordon and Bullock investigate a museum robbery; Gordon's role in Galavan's murder could be exposed; Penguin meets his father; and Bruce practices his street smarts.
I'm really looking forward to meeting Penguin's family, and Bruce and Selina.

"Mad Grey Dawn" sounds like one of the anagram titles they use for Blindspot. Especially since they're using the British "Grey" spelling instead of "Gray."

Ah the return of Vic Mackey tonight. Great scene with Gordon in the box. Bruce also very well done this week.

Great episode, Nygma's plan was full of nice litle twists, casting was great as usual and so was Bruce's scene and I kinda love the idea that lil' Ivy is groing shrooms in some gang's basement :D.

Did Nygma just suddenly snap (well, again)? Sure he was gradually getting eviller, but he just suddenly went full supervillain.

Penguin: With parents like that, how could he NOT turn out crazy?!

Bruce: effing awesome. This kid IS Batman.

Well he has been progressively leaning in that direction but I think the fear that Gordon might stumble onto his deeds helped drive him further over the edge.

Either at the end of last season or earlier in this one, the whole good Nygma/evil Nygma thing ended with the evil side winning. I loved his plot this week, it really felt like a very Riddler kind of story, with of course the OTT Gothamness I love. I do agree that Gordon's trial was ridiculously quick, but TV shows do that all the time, so I'm not to bothered by it. I'm curious to see exactly how all of this stuff with the detective Nygma killed and Galavan's death are going to play out. If it were just the detective's death involved, then it wouldn't be much of an issue, but Galavan's death complicate things.
The Bruce/Selina story was great, he really is starting to feel like Batman.
The introduction to Penguins family was cool. Paul Rubins and Robin Lord Taylor in Penguin mode actually look quite a bit alike. I'm curious to see more of Melinda Clarke's character, she was great on CSI and Nikita.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Barbara now that she's awake again.

That's so weird, that they're basically approaching the Riddler as if he were Two-Face.

And it's Nygma. E. Nygma = enigma.
