It's not realistic to expect Gordon to mount a one-man crusade to clean up Gotham.
Pretty good showing tonight. Some pretty violent deaths for the time slot and the catfight at the end was short but brutal. Penguin has more great moments even though they were telegraphed. Cracks in the Gordan/Barbara relationship have widened which is good. Young Bruce was again excellent.
I hope Nolan is watching. He said he couldn't do the Penguin.
"I'd be more excited to have Philip Seymour Hoffman in the film than to have the Penguin. There are certain characters that are easier to mesh with the more real take on Batman we're doing. The Penguin would be tricky."
That's really weird. Penguin's just a gangster. He's basically the most grounded member of Batman's rogues' gallery and would have fit in just fine.
Fucking Tim Burton.
...it's not like Burton tried to push "his" Penguin on any other iteration.
Penguin and Catwoman were both awesome in TAS, IMO. TAS Selina and the Batman Returns version had almost nothing in common, though. Two completely different back-stories....it's not like Burton tried to push "his" Penguin on any other iteration.
Except that Batman: TAS was required to use Burton's Penguin and Catwoman designs rather than the more classic designs the producers wanted. Not sure whether Burton himself was personally responsible for that rather than some Warner Bros. exec, but it was pushed on another iteration.

This page shows Timm's original designs for Penguin and Catwoman. ... He wanted Penguin to look exactly like his original 1940s comics appearance, and gave Catwoman a look that was basically her 1966 comics outfit, much like Julie Newmar's TV costume only green....
When the series was brought back as The New Batman Adventures and the characters redesigned, the producers reverted Penguin to the original '40s design Timm had wanted in the first place, and gave Catwoman black hair and an all-black costume.
There used to be a function in Image Search where you could select a specific image, input its URL into the field, and Google would display all results for that exact image in different sizes. That's what I was looking for.
But he didn't go back to his original Catwoman.

Obviously, and I never claimed that he did. The point is that Catwoman has almost always been brunette (except for a few issues in the '40s, I think), but B:TAS had to make her blonde to resemble Pfeiffer. Once the pressure to follow Burton's lead was gone, they reverted Selina to her proper dark hair color. But he didn't go back to his original Catwoman.
