Got Fringe Questions? Sci-Fi Has Season Two Answers!

Also it looks like Charlie is gone

Is this an actor firing or a character cutting? There's a big difference.

There is?

In any case, I enjoyed his character, so this is disappointing. That said... At first I thought he'd serve in an Agent Ballard (Dollhouse) capacity as someone on the outside who was going to try to discover & expose what we already knew. But once the character became aware of the supernatural events and just sort of took it all in stride, he started to feel superfluous to me. So while it's disappointing, it's not exactly surprising.

One implies a creative choice, that the character wasn't going anywhere and was therefore abandoned; the actor is collateral damage. The other implies that those in charge didn't like the actor's work performance or related issues; the character is collateral damage.

If they fired him and were thinking of getting rid of him it would have been better if they had just killed the character off during s1.

So is Charlie just going to inexplicably not be there at the start of next season, or will he at least get a mention (transferred somewhere; or maybe he and his wife could mysteriouly vanish and have it possibly releated to all the weird stuff going on with The Pattern.

I won't miss his absence, I thought he was one of the many dead weights dragging the show down. Also, hopefully next year it will be a normal 42 minute run time with ads so the pace isn't so glacial.

Hasn't some Season 2 material already been filmed? (I recall seeing previews for next season after the finale.) Possibly he'll be in those for a bit.

I'm calling it now -- if Mark Valley's new show tanks, the season two Fringe finale will be Olivia coming face to face with alternate universe John Scott.

I'll be a bit bummed if Charlie doesn't return - He was a nice "normal" counter-weight to the special talented people of the Fringe division. (Olivia, Peter, Walter)

Hopefully they'll write in some explanation, if the character does indeed depart.

Or maybe it's all a ruse... :D

On TVGuideMagazine.com:

It was the status update that rocked the Fringe-verse: On May 20th, Kirk Acevedo—who plays level-headed Fed Charlie Francis—posted an all-caps bulletin on his Facebook page that read “WELL BOYS AND GIRLS THEY DONE DID YER BOY WRONG! THEY FIRED ME OFF FRINGE, AND I’VE NEVER BEEN FIRED IN MY LIFE!!”

But according to exec producer Jeff Pinkner, “like all things on Fringe, there is more to this story than meets the eye.” In fact Pinkner not only confirms to TV Guide Magazine that Acevedo “was not fired,” he hints that we’ll see more Agent Francis in season 2. Literally.

“We have already seen two of him on the show,” teases Pinkner. “We have already met the second Charlie. He had a scar on his face.” Looks like The Observer wasn’t messing around when he said that there’s more than one of everything.
