I kind of have mixed feelings about the SFB style Gorn ships. I'm not too fond of having the nacelles hang out the back this way. I think they'd look better attached to the center module instead of the aft one.

wow! and since we know you work for ADB i feel very privilaged and lucky to be a memember here :) and to be able to see and download these images and art of yours :D
because there very good. Have you done the Ares class yet?

I love them. They're one hell of an improvement over the old FASA Gorn ships.

Admittedly, that's not saying much...

I don't really mind the FASA ones. They're pretty consistently a triangular shape and most would have looked okay onscreen.

What, does everyone buy their deflectors from the same guy? He must do a booming business!

Nice design/model.

Thanks guys! :)

kaisernathan1701: I haven't done a hi-poly FedBB yet, although I do have a crappy old low-poly version that I've sort of had to use for awhile. :p

ancient: I know, seriously huh? Actually I got the idea for these dishes from the NX-01 Enterprise, believe it or not. I absolutely detest the NX-01 design, but some part of my brain thought it's dish would look good on the front of my Gorn ships. Go figure. :)

they're all using OpenDishRML (replicator markup language), now at v3.1.1.3b2

First thing I noticed was how the deflector dish was identical to the NX-01 in terms of positioning, colouring and for the most part shape.

But apart from that rather glaring problem, it's very nice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but seeing as how these ships were designed in like 1979, it's not exactly fair to accuse them of copying from ENT.

Besides which, form follows function. Radar emplacements of a given type tend to look alike too.

I'm not sure how you are doing it, but I really like the weathering effect on the plating. Especially noticeable on the wings, for example. From looking at it I'd probably try specular maps to recreate it. Is that what you've done, or is it just "paint"?

It's a combination of bump, specular, and gloss maps.

Thanks guys!

They look very good. The only thing I'd change is a small detail, actually. I'd make some visual differences between the front two modules (habitats) and the engineering module. Perhaps more windows up front and none in the back with some details for refueling, etc. Also, if the middle section is intending to be for cargo-personell offloading and onloading, I'd add to your cool (shuttlebay?) doors a cargo hatch (maybe on the ventral side?
