good things about TATV

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
i know people are going to say "it ended" and list that as a good thing, but I want to be real:

Here's mine; The main flaw with Trip's death is that its never explained how the aliens caught up, or why there no MCOS around or even security, but what I liked is that when Trip realized that he had a plan but it would kill him, his nervous delivery was spot on.

- I looooved Trip's 'final scene" with Chef/Riker. I thought it was well written and well played, and said a lot about Trip. It's actually one of my favorite ENT scenes

- I loved Archers final embrace with t'Pol after she said he looked heroic.

-the idea of framing not only the crew's last adventure and Enterprise itself through the historical eyes of TNG characters

-Trip/T'Pol scene on shuttlepod

-Riker/Trip scene after Trip's death

-Archer/TPol scene in Trip's quarters

-seeing Riker and Troi again

-the cgi of the 1701-D

-the closing montage

-the Riker/Troi conversation at the signing of Federation ceremony.

-- Trip and Malcolm in engineering (until it was ruined by "all good things..." and the lurking Troi and Riker).
-- Seeing Shran again
-- Nice performances by Connor and Jolene in sh'pod.
-- Nice drinking scene with Trip and Archer (until it was ruined by "here's to the next generation")
-- Nice performance by Connor with Chef Riker
-- The Hug
-- The Three Enterprises
-- The Good That Men Do

1. The Andorian child calling Archer "pinksin"
2. The cameos by Manny Coto and other behind the scenes Trek personnel.
3. The ending sequence with the 3 Enterprises.
4. It ended. :)

I was going to list the novel TGTMD.. even though the novel has many flaws it was overall quite good.

Really? What did you find fault with? I thought it was much more intelligently written than TATV.

Speaking of TATV's "Good points", here's my list.

1. Riker and Troi were in it.

But they shouldn't have been.

2. That ass Trip died.

But it was an assinine, moronic death, having the character commit suicide for no good reason. Of course, the guy was such a moron, who always shot off his mouth, and never thought anything through, so you could make the argument, that pissing his life away like that was the best he could come up with in that situation.

Oh it was better I guess than the episode. But there are flaws with it. I'd have to think about it a bit I havent read it in a while. It probably would be better on the LIT forum.. it's a good story idea.

Honestly? I can't think of a single, solitary thing. Well--one thing, the 3 Enterprises at the end, using only the Enterprise captains' voices and not trying to shoehorn Sisko and Janeway in just to be complete (after all, they weren't Enterprise captains).

- Closing Montage
- Seeing the CGI Enterprise-D which was great
- Archer/T'Pol Hug along with Archer/Phlox farewell and his uber-smile
- Archer and Trip's conversation before he 'died'
- Trip and Malcolms conversation in Engineering
- Shran
- Archer's conversation with T'Pol about Trip's 'death'
- The updated uniforms
- The Good That Men Do

- Shran
- Seeing Archer and T'Pol embrace and have a soulful conversation
- Everyone's discussion about Trip
- Seeing Riker and Troi again, which I expected to hate

The Trip & Malcolm scene, Trip & T'Pol shuttle scene, T'Pol & Archer in trip's quarters,The hu.g The Good that men do

You know, after reading this thread I went back and watched TATV again, and the Trip/T'Pol shuttle scene is actually really well done. More emotional kick than almost anything in the episode other than the finale for me.

I decided a while ago that TATV isn't canon. It makes things sooo much easier.
I did the same thing with 2nd and third seasons of ENT.

So you only have Seasons 1 and 4 from ENT?

You still have the early appearences of the Ferengi and the Borg, you know...

- The fact that it SHOULD JUST be considered another TNG episode justed filmed 12 years later - thus Terra Prime is the ACTUAL ENT finale episode. ;)

- The final ship montage and dialog.
