good things about TATV

If they HAD to have Riker and Troi, I wish thay had done cameos and I wouldn't have cared where they were.

Yeah. Then the comments about the ship looking wrong or their uniforms or age's would be moot. They still could have used the CGI 1701-D at the end montage too.

It was a silly excuse to "remind" fans which show this series was a prequel to.

It failed miserably, except for the wonderfully edited finale.

- The fact that it SHOULD JUST be considered another TNG episode justed filmed 12 years later - thus Terra Prime is the ACTUAL ENT finale episode. ;)

This is a good point as the whole show feels more like an episode of TNG than ENT.

I have to agree with most of you guys on that final montage, that was really a well-done moment. Plus I really liked seeing the Enterprise-D in all its 21st-century glory, and I'm slightly embarrassed to say I chuckled at the lame Data voice-over gag during one of the 24th century scenes.

- Archer/T'Pol Hug
- the Federation ceremony
- the ending montage
- and Riker's "Did you find him attractive" question about Trip that seemed to be aimed at Malcolm at first. I've always thought that particular bit of editing was hilarious.

Yeah. That's a fun moment.

- The finale Enterprise montage is the best thing about the whole episode.

- The Archer/T'Pol hug.

- Shran.

- Very good recreations of the Enterprise-D sets.

- Trip's death is almost shocking & gut wrenching. At least, it would be if Troi hadn't spoiled it halfway through!

- This finale makes "Endgame" look good.

Trip's scene with Chef is awesome. It's well placed and really moving, despite his contrived death.

Borgified Corpse is right. A better scripted version of TATV would have surprised the audience when Trip died. For example, one or two scenes featuring Travis questioning his orders might have put most of Troi's comments in an entirely different, ambiguous light.

LOL, I'd completely forgotten about that. "Too bad he won't make it back" or something, I've never watched the episode since it aired the first time. How stupid.

Shran's little girl was cue, though. And seeing the writers in the background of the second-to-last scene. Besides that, this episode was made of fail.

This episode was made so B&B could pat each other on the back. Their egos were stroked all throughout the episode. The one that made me want to puke was making Reed say, "All good things..." Come on! And actually having Archer say, "to the next generation." Are you kidding me? This episode was a TNG love fest. B&B bullshitted us by saying it was a valentine to all Star Trek fans. It was nothing but a "TNG is our favorite!" statement. What did DS9 and Voyager fans get out of this episode? How was it a valentine to them?

Yes, there were some good things. T'Pol looked sexier. (I love Blalock's little protest to the episode by having T'Pol polp in the captain's chair, fold her hands in her lap, and cross her legs.) The final scene between Archer and T'Pol was nice. Seeing Manny Coto in uniform was the least they could do for him. And the best part of the episode was the montage at the end...which B&B didn't even think of. I think it was Sussman's idea. B&B actually wanted the last scene of "Enterprise" to be Riker and Troi walking out of the holodeck.

Then again, TATV didn't even exisit, so I don't know why I get so upset about it.

For me, the best things about TATV were the cameo by the writers and the ending montage. And Shran, I guess. For the most part, the episode was just poorly conceived.

I just started reading The Good That Men Do. I'm looking forward to finding out why it seems to get so many positive reviews.

To this day, as an ENT fan I find precious little comfort in that episode. Even with my "all of Trek" fan hat on, it's the montage with the voices of the Enterprise Captains that I appreciate.

I've nothing against TNG, but Riker and Troi shouldn't have been in this. The characters from here & now (okay 2005, there & then) needed space to bring their own journey to an end. If it was absolutely necessary to tie in with another show, it really needed to be the original. Seeing an aged Archer on his deathbed sometime in the 23rd Century, intercut with the NCC-1701 being christened. There you go... you can have a major character die without giving diehards the finger. Plus it bookends nicely with Archer as a kid in Broken Bow.

Sad I know. Nearly three years on and I still can't let this go...

I actually didn't think it was a bad episode. Well, it was. But it's not quite as bad as people say it is. It's a horrible finale though.

I marginally enjoyed all of it except for Trip's stupid death and his friends showing absolutely no emotions over it when we see them at the ceremony.

The last 40 seconds were glorious though.
