Good grief! The extras on the S1 box set are LAME...

Vice Admiral
Super short, and only one of them really worth watching at all. I was especially apalled at the VFX extra, which was nothing but some footage from Phage with nary a FX shot to be seen.

And the Bujold footage...is there anything worse than that? How the hell could ANYONE have thought she'd make a good Janeway?

The extras on the S1 DVDs

Okay I am replying to a thread that is obviously a complaint thread.
I have rented all of the final discs to DS9, TNG, VOY, ENT and must say that all of them are too short and fluffy.
ENT goes into a lot more detail especially with some of the behind-the-scenes on set stuff similar to feturettes or documentaries on feature films which the other DS9, TNG, VOY series just did not do.
Neelix in a makeup chair and a 15-hour day for VOY just didn't do it for me the way the featurette on ENT 3rd season final disc had
A Day in the Life of a Director: Roxanne Dawson
.

That said. I did just order
on DVD Star Trek Voyager - The Complete First Season this week from Amazon.com.
I'm buying it not for the special features but for the series on DVD. The character and story arcs. Do I wish there were audio commentaries on every one of the 15 epsides? Yes. It didn't happen and won't because CBS Television is not going to re-release this series. This is it.
Maybe you can find some fan commentary on the internet.
Here are 15 done over the 7 seasons of VOY.

they do
Season 1, Episode 12: “Heroes and Demons!”

I'm not sure what these are. RiffTrax.

Usually a screen test shows how an actor looks and feels in their character. With the casting process this is usually done. During initial rehearsals actor chemistry is worked out. Let's say the casting process was either not well thought out or else Bujold performed differently for the pilot production.

^Watch the extras when you get the box sets...it includes the ACTUAL footage already filmed with Bujold before they said "this isn't working"...

And my complaint, as it were, is about the extras. I liked the actual eps (most of them anyways).

CBS/Paramount is continuing to give us too little for too much as a general rule. Their dvds have always been overpriced.

I got Voyager S1 because Wal Mart had a good deal on it ($19.95) right when I had the ability to get myself something.

High prices are not really a surprise from the same company that used to sell single episodes on VHS for $14.95. Compared to that the DVDs are pretty cheap!

Considering how expensive the Trek box sets were when they first came out (I paid a hundred dollars apiece for my DS9 sets), the studio was very stingy with the extras. The complete lack of episode commentaries was very dissappointing.

I would love to have seen the deleted scenes from Caretaker. Do we know if any of them still exist? Paris speaking with his father, Kim enters Voyager for the first time, Kim tours engineering before departure from DS9, more Paris and Stadi...

...not to mention the Janeway with alternate hairstyle...

deleted scenes -Caretaker

1. How do you know of the deleted scene descriptions ?
2. where did you locate a script of Caretaker? URL?

we know that ENT saved their deleted scenes (they were on the DVDs) and probably VOY deleted scenes are archived. If the Bujold footage was saved from 1994 shooting...
There isn't going to be another DVD release so i don't know when they would release any of the 7 season's deleted scenes.

I think it's the book "Voyager Companion"(I think) that mentions them. They even show a photo of Mulgrew with the hairstyle she had during s4-7 while in the Ocampan city while filming "Caretaker".
