Good freaking lord: the movie

Dear God in heaven, Abrams wrote that despicable abomination Armageddon? That movie was like having a jackhammer in my brain for two hours and had the most mentally retarded dialouge and characters outside of an SW prequel. And more scientific idiocy than Waterworld.
He was one of six screenwriters so who knows what's his and what isn't.

Yup.

But not to go too far overboard. I had high hopes when the project was announced. Here, maybe, was to be a MOVIE, like, with movie STARS. And movie WRITERS.

The blockbuster budget remains, but the creative talent seems to increasingly be drawn from a very, very small pool of TV pals.

What's next? Ex-girlfriends? (Oh, wait, she already turned the part down. Really -- look it up.)

The movie will be huge. It will be the next Pirates of the Carribean. (Popularity wise) Everyone will go see it again and again, and all the people who doubted will say "You know what? That was awesome! Let's go see it again!" That's what I predict anyway. This will start after the first teaser.

SO the impulse engine will fuel the bussard collectors? :D

It just goes to demonstrate that Hollywood is fully committed to equal opportunity employment, even when it comes to hiring purblind anencephalics...

...as production illustrators for modern sci-fi films. It won't be a problem, of course, as I am sure that IATSE rules mandate that studios supply the necessary respirators, bibs and diapers for the duration of the shoot. :)

Oh lord, now my brain actually puts a face to that talentless imbecile...

Thankyou, TGT. Thankyou very much

I agree.

Oh wait...I'm a Trekker...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Its Sucks!!!!! It hasn't been filmed yet, but it SUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKS!"

Oh wait, how can a film that hasn't been filmed yet have a track record!? :wtf:

^ You mean like Harve Bennet & Comapany who worked at Paramount's TV division so that TWOK would be on a TV movie budget but once ILM got involved Paramount turned it into a theater film ?

We all know how much that sucked, right ?

But you have to actually come into contact with a fece before you realize it smells and tastes like shit.

ST:XI already stinks of Abrams, Orci, Kurtzman and Eaves. None of these people have ever been involved in any media content creation projects that have impressed or moved me in the slightest. Seriously, what are the odds that they will begin now?

TGT

Dont you like anything. ;) Seriously though they have legions of fans with shows like Lost,Hercules,Zena etc.

^
Of course they do. And fascism had legions of adherents all over Europe in the 1930s. Just because something's popular doesn't mean it's good. ;)

Oh, good, now we are equating the popularity of the production crew of ST11 with that of fascist regimes. That's keeping things well in perspective, winking eye and all.

Ah, nobody has a sense of humour anymore. :)

I was simply using an obvious, if hyperbolic, example of something that was popular but not good. Obviously there are a few fallacies, not least of which is equating artistic good to moral good (which, as my good friend and fellow countryman Oscar Wilde instructs, are not the same thing), but I think it got the point across clear enough.

I don't know if Abrams is a good person or not. I really don't care - I'm dubious as to whether his movie will be good. ;)

Fine. I don't have to equate JJ with fascist leaders to say that I think his work is crap. I've seen his work and can therefore form the opinion without hyperbole.

Now this is just a rumor and I can't find the link to the place I heard it, but the guy who created this "Star Trek" thing worked in TV! The people originally cast did a lot of TV work too. Really, TV people involved with Star Trek!!!! The mind boggles!

All I know is, Abrams has a horrible track record. None of the Trek movies he's made has ever been good.

Oh wait, that was just my low expectation talking. Ignore him.

Nimoy wrote Star Trek VI - Which GR thought was quintessential Star Trek - which showed you how crazy things were getting. The inmates were running the prison. I never want to see ST VI again or any of the movies except I ever again. Peew.
