Goddammit Voyager! (Workforce/Human Error)

I always knew that was wrong having him eat meat in Human Error but I never knew it was only two episodes ago he was a vegitarian. Really sad that slipped through. :-\

Well at least he eats food in both episodes. By S7 standards that's almost continuity in itself. ;)

Neither of those show Chakotay chosing to eat meat, do they? The "Human Error" Chakotay is Seven's holoprogram of him, isn't it? I don't see the problem.

It's not miscontinuity if another character assumes he eats meat. People do that to vegetarians all the time.

Perhaps it was Neelix who got it all wrong. When Neelix boarded the ship he learned that Chakotay was a spiritual person. The spiritual people on Talax don't eat meat, ergo Neelix thought Chakotay was a vegetarian.

Yeah, I think the fact that the Chakotay in "Human Error" is imaginary and part of Seven's holoprogram kinda resolves this issue.

I mean, really folks, of all the continuity issues VOY had, you choose to focus on this one?

No, Chakotay is a vegetarian.

Yes, he clearly stated that in the episode "Unity". Even in the dinner scenes with Janeway they mentioned vegetarian dishes like vegetable briani (sp?) so there was some continuity there.

Isn't everyone a vegetarian since they are eating replicated matter rather than animal flesh?

Interesting thought! However, they did trade for food provisions so perhaps meat was part of some of the trades.

Thing is that Chakotay in Human Error from the scene in Youtube is a hologram and not his actual depiction.
Seven could have altered the holograms parameters or the computer could have made a simple error.
The episode WAS named 'Human Error'. ;)

Or maybe Chakotay once told Neelix he was a vegetarian in order to weasel his way out of trying something Neelix had invented. :p

It's same issue as 'Coda'. I mean, we never know if Chakotay really did cry out "Damnit, Kathryn, don't die on me" and then hold her and start crying of if it was something Janeway made up in her head.

I think the fact Seven programed this Chak is pretty much explanation enough here.

But early on she was (trying) to cook him a roast...

Maybe he only became vegetarian halfway through the series.

I thought the burnt roast was the episode when that ensign "came back from the dead" and Janeway invited her to dinner...
