Frey and / or Henley (sorry, can't remember) were utterly unapologetic about it on the recent documentary. They pretty much said that they wouldn't do it unless they were paid more than the others and the rest could take it or be replaced...Since Felder was fired from the band and subsequently sued the band (settled out of court for millions); I don't think he will be asked to appear with them. There is some really bad blood between Felder, Henley and the now deceased Frey.
It's a real shame but according to Felders book it was all about money; specifically how Frey and Henley made so much more than the rest of the band even though Felder was a full member and equal partner in the corporation.
