OMG! In the side suggestions of this last video there's the FULL VERSION of the premiere ep. (I won't post since I'm sure's a no no.)

Well saw episode 3.1 last night, suppose I'd best spoiler code what I thought of it!

Well it was interesting, but they still seemed to be wasting a lot of time, for the most part it felt like an especially bloody episode of Casualty, and for some Brits--myself included--having Jeff from Coupling as the doctor was a mite distracting

Anderson was amazing (duh!) and had some great stuff to get her acting teeth into here. Dornan not so much for pretty obvious reasons. They seem to be implying that he might rise up at any moment but I don't see how this can happen given he isn't Michel Myers. He's lost his spleen, a heck of a lot of blood and obviously has had his guts sliced open, so if he does somehow escape then the show's well and truly jumped the shark, unless they have a darn good explanation (like his lunatic teen girlfriend busts him out but even this might be a stretch)

At the moment I'm still Intrigued as to where they can possibly take the story of cat and mouse between a cop and serial killer once the killer is caught and majorly injured, but then I've been intrigued since the end of S2 and we were told the show was coming back!

I thought that actor looked familiar - but for me it was the Nurse (Trollied) that I noticed most.

Episode 2 was very good. Glad to see Katee Benedetto hasn't gotten any smarter since series 2 ended.

I just hope they don't trot out the silly trope of the bedside nurse falling for the serial murderer. :brickwall:

Yeah the nurse does seem a little off. I feel someone needs to intervene with Katy lest she end up becoming a killer herself.

I can't imagine how the lawyers might be able to get him off, and memory loss can't mitigate what he's done either (still unsure whether he's pulling a fast one or if it's genuine)

Richard Coyle's Belfast accent was far and away the most convincing I've ever heard an English actor do. Had to check his IMDb page to see if he was actually from over here.

Otherwise - meh. This show is going nowhere fast. 3 episodes in (the Irish state broadcaster airs it 4 days before BBC) and little of note has happened.

Jamie is very good in The Siege of Jadotville, now available on Netflix, if anyone is interested.

I won't expect anything earth shattering come Thursday then :)

It's only 5 episodes isn't it? At the moment it looks like a terrible case of "It's critically acclaimed and has good ratings, make another series!"

Sigh, what was the point? I mean seriously what was gained by not just ending it with him shot at the end of series 2?

All that was gained was that Stella's character was demeaned, and Paul ended up winning, sort of, he got to kill again, got to beat the shit out of Stella, and got to end the game on his own terms and avoid prison. As secure institutions go that place was terrible!

Clear example of a show renewed because it was popular but which the writer had no clear idea where to take the story next.

As someone who's had to visit several secure mental health units for work-related issues, I can safely say that this place bore no resemblance to reality. Nor did the way the police handled the interview process.

I've always said that I'm convinced they originally intended to end it at the end of season 1 with Paul jumping off the bridge into the Lagan (hence the fall), but p, as you say, it was renewed due to popularity. This ending did nothing to dissuade me of that view. Or of the view that they should have ended it like that.

I assume one of the main differences is that the staff and patients have different entrances into the building.
