GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

Fuck this Minion-ass shit, I'm so tired of sequels needing to retread the things you remember from the originals, and equally tired of everything becoming cutesy and toyetic; Baby Yoda is going to have a negative influence on Hollywood for decades, I fear.

There's nothing inherently fucking supernatural about the marshmallows. And while animated marshmallows acting like gremlins is amusing in a sensible chuckle kind of way, the first official footage released in over a year going straight for a "Hey, you remember this thing from the first movie? Here it is again!" beat doesn't fill me with confidence.

I think the thing it wanted you to remember wasn’t stay puft (that did stray a little too gremlins for my taste) but Dana’s kitchen. This scene should have been a little more drawn out to match that, but overall that’s where it put my memory with the musical cues etc. Overall though, it’s kind of exactly where a film so obviously with its roots in the original would go (shandor, spores moulds and fungus... it’s a sequel, no point pretending it doesn’t have some stakes in nostalgia.)

This.

Possibly. After the debut of the original Yoda, there was not a breath between endless cutesy fantasy characters (usually short in stature) popping up in endless movies and cartoons of the 80s, other George Lucas productions, included.

Apart from side effects such as death (or Bell's Palsy or other issues, but statistically speaking are those numbers out of line?), or how the quantity of vaccines has fallen short, the number of spoiled supplies due to tampering... the list goes on and on and instead of mentioning them all I'll just get to the next point as that's even more fun: Not to mention variant strains, not all of which will be treated by the current iteration of the vaccines. Not to mention drug interactions, covid interacting with other diseases a patient has, and how it's airborne (albeit localized, hence the need to wear masks - and not everybody is, does it matter why at this point as the fact that the mutations have occurred only makes containing this more difficult)... The reality is, this is not going away any time soon and it is affecting everybody in one form or another or multiple forms.
Most of America's going to be back to behaving pretty normally by autumn of 2021.

There was a Ghostbuster's marvel comic from the 80s in which Mr. Stay Puff returns as mini Stay Puffs which form together to make the original giant Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. I could see maybe something like that happening here.

I wonder if this means the return of Gozer the Gozerian in some form? If the Stay Puft theme is back then perhaps more story elements from the original movie are making a return?

I believe there are hints or references to Ivo Shandor in the trailers/promotional material. I don't know how strongly that will play into the film but I guess it could be something that Egon was following up on.

There's one brief shot in the teaser trailer that has a sign reading "Shandor Mining Co."

Yeah, the kids doing 75% of the heavy lifting wouldn't be too enticing but on the other hand a 50/50 split in the work would be great and let both groups of cast members shine!

Honestly, as a big Ghostbusters fan, the trailers have been kind of meh for me. I'm keeping an open mind and I might see it eventually, but the new trailer seems (to me) a bit too heavy on things that are lifted from the first film.

That looks pretty amazing actually..........I might go to a theater by November......if we aren't locked down again by then.
