GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

It took my dumb brain a few watches to realize the kids called the number in the old commercial. And of course Ray still has that number working...just in case. Even better: He's still running his occult bookstore!

I don't think it was Ray answering the phone. It was another surviving Ghostbuster that isn't Winston.

It’s Ray. Here is a trailer breakdown with writer and director Jason Reitman.

He specifically talks about the tattoo on Ray’s arm in the trailer.

They just revealed Hasbro Pulse action figures from the new movie. And yes - what we want to see will happen. That's all I'll say. ;)
Yeah, anyone who wants to go in blind with no spoilers needs to avoid the internet for next few months. I follow a Ghostbusters news listing on Instagram and was very pleasantly surprised to see those pictures so soon. After years of so much mystery that dam has started to break open today.

Good times. ;)

That's a wonderful video. You can really sense the love and devotion and dedication that Jason put into this film and how much he wanted to retain the spirit and the sense of family of the originals. This makes me all the more excited for this film!

I am very excited about this movie now. I have always been open minded this whole time about new characters. But it’s been a long time. I remember first reading about Aykroyd wanting to make a 3rd movie in my local newspaper when I was in High School in the 90s... before the internet!

Than sadly Harold Ramis died. The hints of this being tied to Egon’s family had been strong but after the delays due to the pandemic my interest had been frozen and waiting. All this new info today really brought my excitement back!

This seems the perfect and respectful way of continuing these characters without Egon.

I just looked at the Hasbro Pulse Istagram, and I'm really surprised to see them actually posting pictures of those figures so early. I would think they'd want to keep that a surprise.

Loved the new trailer. I'm not bothered by the focus on the kids, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the original characters again. I'm hoping for more than cameos, but I won't be upset if that is all we get.
So was that Gozer's arm, and a Terror Dog I saw?

I'm not particularly invested in Ghostbusters (I liked the first two movies, but don't have much investment besides that), and I liked parts of the trailer. The bits of ghost effects seem cool and like they're trying to match the style of the old movies.

But, I've always hated movies about groups of kids having adventures (I couldn't stand stuff like The Goonies even as a kid, and I can't stand Stranger Things which this was obviously inspired by way more then it was the original GB movies), so I will definitely not be paying to watch it. I'll wait until its out on video and the public library has it, and even then only if reviews say that at least a couple of the old GB characters get decently sized roles.

All that said, this is still probably going to be better then the 2016 film (which had potential, I personally had no problem with an all female GB reboot team as a concept, but failed to me because of an awful script and mediocre cast).

I guess we will hear your predetermined opinion when the movie goes to streaming then?

2016 had a great cast. It lacked pacing and actual humor. Take four of the funniest comedians working today and remove everything that makes them funny--then give the best jokes to Hemsworth?!? Its creative failure was no way the fault of the cast.

Aside from shared cast member, I see way more ghostbusters than stranger things here, and I say that as a fan of both.
I was so excited when I saw the bookstore. And this was a few seconds after I saw Janine. For a moment I wondered if she had married egon, but then I realised she would have inherited the house.

It looks great but I wonder how much comedy it will have. Then again I think the comedy will kind of low key only in the sense you don't have someone like Bill Murray who has a big personality. I mean even Paul Rudd doesn't match Murray's personality.
