GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

It's basically the "new generation flying Millennium Falcon" scene all over. Just don't have Egon's daughter call it "Garbage" ;)

Mostly it was just a eye-roll in a, "A gunner's seat, really?" while also smiling because it's kind of cool. I mean, I don't know why it "needs" one as growing up the Ecto-1 was always cool "as is" but, I dunno. There's something about it. IIRC the Ecto-1 in "The Real Ghostbusters" had a gunner's seat too. (Though such a thing would throw off the weight distribution/center of gravity on the car and make it harder to handle.)

But it's a trailer that made me smile and wanting to see more. I wasn't all that enthusiastic or optimistic over the movie but that's changed, slightly, now.

Yeah in the original movies they never used the gadgets/gear on the top of the car

It would have been cartoonish(which is what part 2 was) but neat

While it does look like a good movie, they seem to be leaning a bit too heavily on nostalgia, IMO. But then, most everything these days does.

What do you mean two universes?

They mean that GB16 wasn't set in the same universe as the other three films and would like to see them combine somehow.
Yup, that's exactly what I mean. As derided as the 2016 film is, it had a terrific cast and I really want to see them again, tied in with the original universe/cast in some way.

I couldn't finish the 2016 movie. I mean even regular dialogue would be interrupted by jokes.. the jokes didn't flow naturally. Like they'd be talking about university stuff and make a WonTon soup joke mid sentence. That was not a good way to write comedy. Mike hate? Not funny. I saw someone edit the film when the main character gets fired to get rid of all the extra fat around her dismissal from the university, and it goes form her getting dismissed to her walking into the impromptu lab, and not only was the storytelling smoother better and better, but also punchier and maybe funnier.. but the film as released just dragged jokes that were not funny out beyond the limits. Like the guy at the desk finding new ways to use his middle fingers. Not funny.

Yeah that's how modern comedies are written unfortunately. Jokes all the time, realistic dialogue out the door.

I noticed that just before they dived under the table they were examining a stack of books that looked exactly like the stack of books in the basement of the library in the first movie and that the first jumpsuit she examines reads 'Spengler'.

Maybe Spengler retired there?

It would make sense if all the equipment lying around was his.

I like how Ghostbusters 2016 taking place in NYC in an old Cadillac hearse called Ecto-1 with four brown jump-suited characters using proton packs to capture ghosts is the one not leaning into nostalgia. Not to say that Afterlife isn't but c'mon... I guess, 2016 didn't seem as sentimental (at least from one trailer) but check out something like Nekrotronic to see a non-nostalgic modern take on Ghostbusters.
