I wasn't expecting something so Spielberg.
I did have to groan a bit on the gunner seat on Ecto-1.
They mean that GB16 wasn't set in the same universe as the other three films and would like to see them combine somehow. What do you mean two universes?
It's basically the "new generation flying Millennium Falcon" scene all over. Just don't have Egon's daughter call it "Garbage"![]()
What do you mean two universes?
Yup, that's exactly what I mean. As derided as the 2016 film is, it had a terrific cast and I really want to see them again, tied in with the original universe/cast in some way. They mean that GB16 wasn't set in the same universe as the other three films and would like to see them combine somehow.
Yeah that's how modern comedies are written unfortunately. Jokes all the time, realistic dialogue out the door.I couldn't finish the 2016 movie. I mean even regular dialogue would be interrupted by jokes.. the jokes didn't flow naturally. Like they'd be talking about university stuff and make a WonTon soup joke mid sentence. That was not a good way to write comedy. Mike hate? Not funny. I saw someone edit the film when the main character gets fired to get rid of all the extra fat around her dismissal from the university, and it goes form her getting dismissed to her walking into the impromptu lab, and not only was the storytelling smoother better and better, but also punchier and maybe funnier.. but the film as released just dragged jokes that were not funny out beyond the limits. Like the guy at the desk finding new ways to use his middle fingers. Not funny.
I noticed that just before they dived under the table they were examining a stack of books that looked exactly like the stack of books in the basement of the library in the first movie and that the first jumpsuit she examines reads 'Spengler'.
I like how Ghostbusters 2016 taking place in NYC in an old Cadillac hearse called Ecto-1 with four brown jump-suited characters using proton packs to capture ghosts is the one not leaning into nostalgia. Not to say that Afterlife isn't but c'mon... I guess, 2016 didn't seem as sentimental (at least from one trailer) but check out something like Nekrotronic to see a non-nostalgic modern take on Ghostbusters.https://theoutline.com/post/8409/ghostbusters-reboot-trailer-stranger-things-paul-rudd-finn-wolfhard
Women vs Nostalgia: A Ghostbusters story.
I couldn't finish the 2016 movie.
So what?
It was a good movie. I laughed a lot. You just didn't get it.
