GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

I agree it's a partnership, idea-wise, but I always pictured Egon as the builder, even in the two live action movies. He's the one with the PKE meter. In part two, Egon has the Giga meter. He's got the best toys. He has the negative emotion detector in part II. Also, we see him tinkering with a neutrona wand while they eat the Chinese food. He's also the one working on the slime blower in part II when Venkman calls. Stantz I always pictured doing the day to day mechanical stuff (like fixing up the Ecto-1) while Spengler handled the Ghostbusters' "little toys."

Yeah, same here, and that's emphasized more or less by the fact that Egon is made to be the scientific geek that he's portrayed as in the movies. And then the Ghostbusters video game has Egon give the rookie new toys to test. Also, isn't he also the one warning the dangers with the containment unit and the crossing of the streams? That makes him come across as someone who knows the technology best. If Ray is technically building things, it's likely by Egon's designs and the theory of how they should be working.

Yeah, I've always seen Ray as the idea guy, and Egon as the builder.

Yeah, I'm bummed out, too. I'm hoping for a possible crossover movie where the two universes meet because mumbo-jumbo happened (like crossing the streams).

What do you mean two universes?

Cautiously optimistic with this one.. maybe it's intentional not to show any of the original actors and start over completely new (we know the original cast will appear) but i hope they'll be able to shake off the legacy and make their own thing.

Star Wars wasn't able to do that for the most part, the original trio hangs around its neck and pulls it down so i hope the new Ghostbusters won't have that problem.

couple of additional beats including a different ending in the German version

Hmm, not what I expected at all. Finn Wolfhard seems right at home as this kind of reminds me of Stranger Things meets Ghostbusters. I'm surprised that the trailer plays more as adventure than comedy.

Not going to lie, that looks like maybe it might be worth seeing.
The trailer was not at all what I was expecting (I thought it would be some teenybopper comedy like Spy Kids with ghosts) and actually looks fun and compelling. I like that it has a sort of serious mystery vibe to it as well, and leans very heavily into the Stranger Things, It, Super 8 type mold, even though it's set in present day. I had completely written this off before, so this trailer was a pleasant surprise.

Not sure what to think of the trailer. Still not down with having kids as ghostbusters. Kids messing around with unlicensed nuclear accelerators on their backs just seems very very irresponsible and dangerous.

Wow, that was a very different tone than I was expecting, but I like it. I was cautiously optimistic before, but now I'm actually really excited for it.

That actually looks very interesting! I hope they explore what happened with Egon and the reason why everything is there and not in NY. I actually feel it has a bit of a Eureka vibe to it, maybe even filmed in the same location? The town feels very familiar.

Shandor Mining Company? Goddamn Ivo! But I guess it makes sense, considering the unusual construction materials and methods used in building 550 Central Park West.
