Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

I don't really mind having a new, younger crop of Ghostbusters, but I can't say I'm crazy about any of the suggestions above.

I think Steve Carell's deadpan style of humor might fit though. Or someone like Aasif Mandvi from the Daily Show. Or one of those stoner comedians like Doug Benson, who could probably bring a fun new perspective to the thing.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Brian Posehn would be a great as a guy with the helmet one, reading whether he is stelling the truth or not, like in the scene from the first film with Dana.

Andy Richter could pull off being a Ghostbuster, I think.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

If Ben Stiller, Chris Rock and Will Ferrell are in, I'm out. I can't stand them. The movies they are in usually have low-brow humour that I just can't see the Ghostbusters using.
Been a while since you've seen the original movie?

Nice choice! :techman:

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Ghostbusters 3 will be so in line with Beverly Hills Cop 3, Die Hard 4, Indiana Jones 4, Blues Brothers 2000, Terminator 3, and other terrible late sequels whose names just escape me.
I'm a fan of 3 of those films so further proof that the loud minority internet haters aren't 'right' about them.
I don't care to change your mind, just don't make a blanket statement as if this were a truth.

All overly nitpicked.

Can't see that where I am, sorry. It's geolocked. My point however is that the movies aren't built on a foundation of low-brow humour. And I just saw GB on Halloween, and there was nothing remotely low-brow about it.

The fact that it was written as a vehicle for John Belushi should give an indication of the type of humor they were going for. I believe I've posted my picks for a new crop of Ghostbusters but in case no one saw those:

Eliza Dushku or Alyssa Milano (or both)
Seth Rogen
Will Smith
Zachery Levi

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Will Smith is definitely out of the question considering his salary (and probably unwillingness to appear in someone else's franchise), but way back when GB3 was first being tossed around, the proposed idea was for Will Smith, Ben Stiller and Chris Farley.

Now they should consider maybe Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks.

Well, there is that, but I still wouldn't call the GB movies low-brow. It's rather tame by comparison. It's not like they were going out of their way to write something crass.

Damn those are excellent choices...especially Elizabeth Banks. She'd make an excellent Ghostbuster.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

Emma Stone will be fairly busy over the next few months filming "Spider-Man".

Here's mine:

Shia LeBeouf (Oscar Venkman)

Christy Carlson Romano (character similar to Egon Spengler or Kylie Griffin)

Seth Rogen (character similar to Ray Stanz)

Nick Cannon (character similar to Winston Zeddmore-can be a younger nephew of Winston!)

Great choices, or what?

I like everything with the except of Nick Cannon (can't stand him).

I've had a mild crush on her for awhile.
Now, having seen her shower scene for Mirrors 2 its upgraded to infatuation.

Cast her.

Re: Aykroyd Comments on Murray, Ghostbusters 3! Working on Script w/Ra

I have had a crush on Christy since I saw her as Shia's older sister on "Even Stevens" and then cemented it when I discovered she was the voice of Kim Possible! I could see her as playing maybe a student or Egon's protege that he has met through some physics teaching job he has taken at Empire Sate or Columbia.

Sure. I liked "Cory in the House" lol. I can actually him being the Jonah Hill of the cast.

Bill Murray did an interview with Howard Stern where he revealed he's yet to read the latest draft of the "Ghostbusters III" script that Ivan Reitman sent him. Doesn't consider it a priority, knows that he is the main holdup in getting this finally greenlit, still seems bitter and disappointed in how "Ghostbusters II" turned out and this might be one of the reasons why he's hesitant about doing another one. He feels kind of bad and realizes that fans and the studio want another movie. Bill also states that he knows that the studio would prefer doing a complete reboot. It's pretty interesting.
