Ghostbusters 2016: Talk about the movie(s).

This doesn't. It's different.

Life goes on.

That's the thing that drives me nuts about fans. If Feig had done everything exactly the same -- costumes, props, car -- people would be bitching, "Well, if they're just doing the same movie all over again, why bother?" Feig changes things up, and everyone's bitching, "That looks nothing like the original!" It's a lose-lose proposition.

The movie will succeed or fail on its own merits, not based upon how much it adheres to or differs from the original. Jesus Christ.

If they didn't want people to compare this to the original they probably shouldn't have done a remake.

Sure they can. No one says you need to compare it to the original, just judge it by itself. Parents don't judge a second child in comparison to the first, they look at the child by who he/she is.

Kate seems to look really at home in this part.

God, I love that so much.

Well, that's without all the equipment on, too. We'll see how everything looks once they're locked and loaded.

Also, the moment I saw Kate I thought Egon, too. I love it. :D

Except for the orange stripes, everything looks perfect. :techman: I particularly like how each one has their own pose to (presumably) match their personality (Leslie Jones' "badass" look is certainly no surprise ).

awesome. standing in front of the Ecto 1 with their suits and packs on...they look great. and i like the orange stripes.

The only thing that stops me from getting hot or cold for this, is that I only know Melissa McCharty from anything really. The rest of the team, are unknowns to me. I IMDB'd them, but I've never seen any of them in anything.
I asume they're pretty big in the US, but being from the Netherlands, I don't know any of them. And McCarthy is really only know thanks to Mike And Molly, which aired on a network here for a while. I doubt most people in the Netherlands will know of her.

So, it makes me wonder if the cast in well known internationally. This can be both a blessing and a curse. Some people might be attracted to the name Ghostbusters, and think yeah I'm gonna check this out. Others might not like the concept of Ghostbusters without a familiar name and not wanna try it. Perhaps this is why they cast names like Chris Hemsworth and Andy Garcia?

Kinda of a pity really, since I really want people to judge this NOT as a Ghostbusters remake/reboot, but watch it just as they did with the first Ghostbusters; as something they've never seen before, and judge it accordingly.

***EDIT***

I just came acros this quote from one of the writers for joblo.com, where I get most of my film-news and rumours from. And it's a great way of thinking for this movie.

I will never consider this GHOSTBUSTERS 3 but that doesn't mean I cannot enjoy it.

I like it, and from the looks of it Leslie Jones character is with them early on? Unless this is a shot from later in the film, which is also incredibly likely.

I also only know McCarthy, so...

I like the new picture. I like how they've posted pics of things bit by bit, first the costumes, then the proton packs, then ecto-1, and now all of it together with the cast.

If they're doing a gender lift situation, I have no interest in it.

If it's completely new characters with a different group inspired by the original characters, then i have no problems with it at all.

I imagine it's the latter. Some of the archetypes might somewhat line up but I doubt it's 1:1.

Probably just enough to give you that feeling of nostalgia, without retreading over too much of the same ground. I am really looking forward to this movie.

If the IMDb is to be believed, then it's the latter:

Melissa McCarthy - Abby Bergman
Kate McKinnon - Jillian Holtzmann
Kristen Wiig - Erin Gabler
Leslie Jones - Patty Tolan

I also like the pic with them in uniform with the proton packs in front of the Ecto-1.

If they have one character who's more of a scientist, another that's way too into the whole thing, one that's just there for the money, and another who is a sarcastic semi-asshole, is that a direct copy and paste? Or are those just archetypes?
