Personally I will wait until other shoes drop, or more to this certain story comes out, before I use the term rapist or predator. Until then, the mob needs to put down the torches.
I WILL NOT STAND for people that give tacit support to molestors and rape culture
Not to mention the prevalence of myths and misconceptions about sexual offending. They are prevalent among both genders.
Of course women are victimized more, but the numbers are closer than one would expect. There was an article on Slate awhile back that quoted surveys saying 38% of sexual assaults and rapes were men, and of that, 46% of those men reported that women were the assaulters.Frankly ? I don't believe I agree. I believe sexual assaulters are mostly men because the patriarchy still exists today.
However, I believe it's necessary to say that men who suffer sexual assaults do have a tendency of being afraid of coming forward. They fear society will not view them as "manly" enough because they were sexually assaulted.
Obviously, that doesn't mean female sexual assaulters don't exist. They do exist and they need to be brought to justice. We also need to talk about them too, like we talk about any sexual assaulter.
Women suffer way more because of sexism but men are also hurt because of it. Gender roles are horrible and they affect Humanity itself in a very negative way.
Sometimes people get bold and put moves on other people without asking because asking can ruin the mood.
Well this happened before I was even born. Why didn't the guy get in contact with George personally first rather than just going to the public? He did stop when the guy insisted that he stop. Sometimes people get bold and put moves on other people without asking because asking can ruin the mood. Sometimes people just make up stories too even if it seems there's nothing to be gained by making up a story they do it anyway. Who knows.
We have a culture which treats sexual assault victims very poorly, so lots of people remain silent about it. Now we have a movement to raise awareness about how pervasive this is, and it's much easier to finally say "me too" when you see others doing it. Why is that so fucking difficult to fathom?

woohoo!!Okay I listened to the Howard Stern thing. Permission is a complicated thing. There's implied permisson and explicit permission. He may have felt that he was within bounds to give it a try without the other person being offended and had implied consent in that sense. Then finds out he doesn't have permission after trying. When asked about it: "Have you ever grabbed someone without consent" he thinks about the times he thought he had implied consent but found out otherwise.
That's a slippery slope fallacy. Like @jespah wisely mentioned, we hardly have an epidemics of false accusations right now. Those who falsely accuse others get punished and they are not as many as the people who commit sexual assaults.
It's the other way around, actually. Assaulters are the ones who get mostly away with their crimes due to the fact that misogyny and toxic masculinity are still common things among people.
And let me say I don't agree with @RobertCardassian. He's already jumping to the conclusion that Takei is gulity and he's also misusing the concept of "victim blaming" IMO. That's not how you should approach a case like this. You should give priority to the accusers and not the accused, I agree. You can't assume that the accusers are victims right away, though. You have to let the Justice System decide that first.
