Generations of Howard Women (Sub Rosa)

...it could have been MUCH worse.

Since the candle was inherited, and the only child of Dr Crusher was Wesley...the mind boggles.

Well...the LEAST horrific case I can think up is that we'd have had to endure a fight between the Traveller and the Ghost to see who got ownership of The Boy.

Since the name is carried by the males (traditionally) then how could the Howard females (who are not related at all to each other) share common traits (e.g. My wife is not related to my mother, herself not related to my paternal grandmother, the paternal line is the one that carries the family name)? This is a major oversight!
The women either chose not to marry their partners or chose not to change their names, there are other cultures where a woman does not change her last name when married, there is no legal reason to do so.
As for the episode, the ghost came back as leader of the Bajoran people lol

I'll admit, my memory is faulty here, but what exactly was so wrong about Ronin anyway. When Dr. Crusher realizes he's leaching technobabble of the week out of her just as he did her grandmother and all her ancestors, she's revolted enough to vaporize the candle and then kills Ronin. But she notes that based on her grandmother's diary, there was genuine two-way love going on between her and Ronin and leaching the technobabble obviously didn't shorten Granny's lifespan. So why was it so objectionable he was doing this? Is orgasmic pleasure not a suitable gift in return or what?

Aide: "Introducing First Minister Shakarr of Bajor."
Worf: "I recognize you! You are Dr. Crusher's sex ghost!"
Bashir: "Sex ghost? Miles what went on on the Enterprise?"
Worf and O'Brien look at each other.
O'Brien: "We don't discuss it with outsiders."

And yes, I do realize Sub Rosa was after O'Brien transferred to DS9. And no, I don't give a shit.

The Ent crew had a deck of specialized playing cards, using their lovers and enemies substituting for the traditional face values.

A low level asshole like Ronin was the 4 of clubs.

Even if the women didn't change their names, they'd still have different ones. The problem is that they're not related to each other.

Per Rule 34, somewhere out there is a fanfic of Shakarr and the Ghost.
